Today I was part of a group from Llantrisant visiting Llanelly House. What a great experience! The guided tour was very informative. We learned so much about the history of this wonderful place and the individuals who had lived there. Those working there are so accommodating and obviously love the place themselves.
The tour was finished off with a scrumptious afternoon tea with sandwiches, cream cakes and copious tea and coffee. Thank you!

While there's not much to do in Llanelli apart from stroll around the indoor market, this recently restored "grand house" is a entertaining and informative way to spend a few hours. We didn't take the tour because of timing but would on another occasion, not least to learn more about a fascinating genealogy project. A major restoration effort has helped preserve something of note in a town that needs all the help it can get to stop from falling off the map.

I visited Llanelli house with a ladies group. We were shown around by a very witty, enthusiastic guide, Jo, who gave a very interesting talk which set the tone before we went off on the tour. The house featured on the BBC programme 'Restoration' and I must say when you listen to Jo you realise what a mammoth task it was and thank goodness this magnificent house was saved. The history of the house is long and varied and it once stood in acres and acres of lovely green grounds but alas all that has long gone as Llanelli grew up around it. Nevertheless the house still stands thanks to the dedicated work of the legions of restorers. Some of the rooms are a little quirky as they slope and rise in places but that adds to the charm of the place and of course it's history.

The shop sells souvenirs, jams, chutneys etc, not the tacky sort either so take a look on your way around. We didn't visit the tea room as tea/coffe was included in our visit and was served in a separate room. Amenities include toilets and a lift for those not able to walk up the steep stairs to the servants quarters. The servants quarters have a very interesting tale to tell!!

We were told there were a couple of rooms that were still to be dressed and also a digital display is to be added so I would love to return for another look and maybe stay for lunch.

My only criticism would be directed at the local council for not putting brown signage up to point visitors in the right direction. Such a gem should be very firmly placed on the tourist to do list, come on Llanelli council do your bit!!!!

Just caught site of this beautiful heritage building in Bridge street Llanelli opposite the library s side entrance , I had a quick look about and discovered Llanelli House has a classy decorated cafe that served me a deliciously warm latte with a mini home made biscuit for just £1.80. I felt relaxed and slightly in the upper class league with such a charming atmosphere surrounding me. It s my birthday soon and will definitely consider having a cheeky cocktail for a treat there, and have a look around the amazing historical building. X it was a nice change of scenery for me xxxxx
