“A Truly relaxing, Magical 'Get away from it all' Place :-)”
Reviewed 17 November 2010

Our family are regulars to Scotland and we always have to include a few days stay at Melfort Pier and Harbour. It is truly the most idyllic location, away from all the pressures of the 'Rat Race' , good for the soul and a great place to recharge one's batteries.

The development is quietly tucked away at the end of a scenic lane just outside of the village of Kilmelford. Immediately on arriving the staff are always warm and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. We and our two girls loved eating in the on site restaurant, The Mermaid, and it undoubtedly has the best views of all the restaurants in the area being situated right on the shoreline of Loch Melfort with stunning views across the Melfort sound.

We have stayed in different houses each time we have been and each time they have been very clean and tidy, well equipped and cosy.

The walks around the loch and up onto the hills around are wonderful. The views from the top are amazing if you have the stamina! If you are not that keen on walking, you can cheat and take the car up to the most wonderful high lochs and views by following the single track road up which is alongside Kilmelford Stores in the village - take a picnic and enjoy:-)

This is a magical and spectacular place 'away from it all' and nothing was too much trouble for the staff who made our stays relaxing and memorable . A little piece of heaven!

This was out second visit to Melfort Pier (first was December 07) and we will certainly be back for more. We stay in the Crow's Nest and the views from the house were fantastic. It's such a lovely, tranquil place with loads to do (or not!) close by. The sauna and jacuzzi bath are an added bonus. The house has everything you need to keep you going: wifi, log fire, kitchen (well-stocked), dishwasher, washing machine. The balcony with it's amazing views. Just love it. Can't wait to go back!

The best review we read before we booked didn't do it justice, from the moment we booked in the enthusiasms of the staff filled you with excitement.

We spent an early autumn week in the Moorings, the apartment was everything and more that we where expecting, the views and wild life that surrounded us outweighed our expectations, but most of all the sheer tranquillity of the place just submerged us into that feeling of contentment that a holiday meant to relax you should do.

The whole area has so much to offer but why leave this idyllic setting to travel to yet another idyllic setting, but we did.

Two days after we left the staff where still at there brilliant best by forwarding on a box of clothing left by my wife (not me I hasten to add) thanks to all of them for being there when we needed them and not being there when we didn’t.

We will be back.

What an amazing weekend, postcard views and a lot to do! Staff was always friendly and helping with every request. The walks we made around the bay were beautiful. We will definitely come back in February to discover and witness Highland beauty in winter.
Thanks Etonella and John for the wonderful time!

I recently spent three nights with friends at this wonderful find on the shores of Loch Melfort, located in such a peaceful and scenic spot. Great advantage in being slightly away from the main track, offering a chance to totally relax and rejuvenate the soul. The lovely houses all with superb views are well appointed and very comfortable, spacious, spotlessly clean and welcoming. Good internet access is available allowing one to keep in touch with 'the outside world'. The Mermaid restaurant is excellent, serving a good selection of healthy well cooked local produce, at a reasonable priceagain with a lovely setting overlooking the loch, so no need to drive out for meals. A great spot for sailing with its own harbour space.
