“Lovely retreat”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

A beautiful guest house situated in stunning surroundings. We arrived late afternoon and were greeted with a very warm welcome by the owners. Our room was stunning and we had the pleasure of being on the ground floor with a balcony, however, I am sure the other room above would no doubt be of the same calibre.

We chose to have dinner in the guest house and I am so glad we did. Our food on both evenings of our stay, was cooked to perfection. I am a vegetarian and had a lovely pizza on the first night and tasty pasta on the second evening, my partner had steak which he loved. Deserts were amazing, sticky toffee pudding, chocolate brownies...really tasty. Breakfast kept us going for the day and we did not need lunch....however we had fruit and snacks with us just in case we were peckish (purchased before our travels).

Our stay was for total relaxation and peace, which is what we got. Our hosts were most hospitable and we were left to our own devices.

We were quite sad to leave as we had love the peace and location of the guest house and of course the lovely hosts :-)

We would highly recommend and will definitely return. Until then, we have fond memories of Loch Awe guest house. Thank you. Xxx

We found this tranquil, lochside B&B set well off of the beaten track. We enjoyed stunning views over the loch from our verandah and from panoramic windows in both guest lounges. Spotlessly clean and a hearty breakfast.

It took a while to find but was well worth it in the end. Tony & Sandra are excellent hosts and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are large, comfortable and very clean. The lounge was very homely and with the log fire burning it is very relaxing. Breakfast can be selected from all Scottish fare to cereals if that's your thing. The cooked breakfast was, however, fantastic. I would highly recommend this lodge to anyone passing by Loch Awe for a great relaxing stop over.

If you like high quality accommodation in a quiet, remote location with a warm welcome, this one's for you. Situated just above the banks of the loch, Loch Awe House was built about 7 years ago and has wonderful views over the water to the hills beyond. Tony and Sandra offer a warm welcome (they previously ran a small hotel on Mull so know how to look after their guests) and Sandra will cook a delicious dinner on request (useful bearing in mind the nearest restaurant is 5 miles away). The rooms are all large and en suite with comfortable beds, quality fittings and plentifully supplied with toiletries. Altogether a great place to stay.

Room Tip: All the guest rooms are on the front of the house so enjoy loch views, but the ground floor rooms ha...

Spent 3 nights here over the recent Bank Holiday. The house is great , the hosts Tony and Sandra are very welcoming and friendly. The room I had was spotless and comfortable with a beautiful view over Loch Awe. The place is so peaceful and ideal for a quiet getaway. Breakfast was excellent as were the evening meals we took in the house. The house is located 10 miles down a quiet single track road with the nearest pub or hotel about 6 miles away but Tony and Sandra will cook a lovely evening meal if you don't want to venture out or fancy a bottle of wine with your meal.If you are hooked on Facebook bear in mind there is no internet and whilst mobile phone signal for O2 and Vodafone is good , the mobile data signal is poor. Overall this is a fantastic place to stay , fully deserving of its 4 star Gold award and I wholeheartedly recommand it.

This is a tricky one. The real question to be asked when visiting somewhere would be 'would I return?' And, unfortunately, the answer for Loch Awe House would be a fairly regrettable 'no'.

This review is difficult to write. The house is simply superb. The location is stunning, the views are some of the best I've ever seen. However, I did not feel comfortable and so the house wasn't a memorably enjoyable part of my trip.

My girlfriend and I (both aged 19 at the time) stayed over summer and I felt we were treated differently due to our age. It is for this reason that if you are a young person of similar age to myself, I would recommend you look elsewhere for a place to stay. One half of the host couple, Sandra, appeared to be convinced we would cause some sort of trouble and so we never felt particularly comfortable in her presence. Examples of this will no doubt sound trivial on a website a few months after the fact, but when you pay the same price as other older guests you expect the same welcoming warmth. For example, we were not offered the complimentary sherry as was the other couple staying at the same time. Another is when I dropped my camera whilst sitting in one of the (admittedly truly immaculate) rooms, which was swiftly followed by hurried footsteps, the door opening and Sandra checking we had not knocked something over (the entire house is adorned with ornate furnishings). It was a camera dropped from knee height, not exactly going to be registering on the Richter scale!

I've visited quite a few B&Bs around Scotland and this one is perhaps the best of the bunch in terms of location, cleanliness, room comfort and so on. So for that reason, it is a struggle not to recommend Loch Awe House. Ultimately, I was there on a holiday and the prickling discomfort felt due to the generational gap (which, I have to add, didn't make an appearance at any of the other numerous B&Bs we stayed in during our trip) diminished the enjoyment and therefore, if you are young, I would not recommend Loch Awe House

We stayed here for three nights as a short break. The road alongside the loch to get to the house is narrow with passing places but that is to be expected and quite enjoyable.Tony and Sandra made us feel right at home straight away and we enjoyed the spectacular views from the upstairs guest lounge. There are only two guest rooms so we were made to feel very special. Our bedroom was very large with amazing views. The breakfasts and evening meals were wonderful and definately good value for money, including the free sherry and bottle of wine in the evening. Highly recommended. We would definately return next time we visit Scotland.

Room Tip: Both rooms are spectacular.
