This is a simply stunning location on the South side of Loch Awe. Cliff and Janet are great hosts being both very friendly and helpful. It's a fishermans dream - hire boats/rods etc or simply order a bacon & egg roll and take in the stunning scenery!! Stayed up the drive for three days - not long enough. Already organising our next trip. #LochAweSome

Cliff and Janet are welcoming hosts whether you want to launch your own fishing boat, power boat, canoe, kayak or hire one from them. If you are a fisherman then there are massive pike, ferox trout, Brown Trout, Perch, Char and other coarse fish.
If you just like to take out a boat and tour the Loch seeing the Island of Inishail where the Dukes of Argyll are buried, Kilchurn Castle or just admire the breathtaking scenery then there is a choice of craft at very good rates by the hour, half day or day.
If you get there in the morning you can also get a superb breakfast "butty" with sausage, bacon or egg or any combination of all three and nice hot cup of tea, coffee of hot chocolate.
There are plenty of places to stay locally or contact Cliff and arrange to camp as well!!
If you're travelling up the west side of Scotland or even planning a fishing trip as a pike fanatic or Ferox addict then Loch Awe is a must and Loch Awe Boats is the place to get kitted out.

Owner was very helpful from the first minute we arrived and soon had us on our way up the loch even though we had never driven a boat before. Informed us of the best islands to visit and the best approach for the boats. The views surrounding the loch were stunning.A very good value day out for all ages.

Great boatyard where you can hire boats for fishing or leisure or for the more committed you can berth your own here at very reasonable rates Camping site is also available and toilets and showers nearby. A beautiful view at your doorstep.Recently taken over by Cliff he is doing a great job modernising it and maintaining the boats with the help of Neil who has assisted at the boatyard for a few years. Hungry in the morning Janet Cliff's wife can provide a selection of breakfast rolls and coffee/tea keenly priced. Give it a go.

I've have always fancied to take out a motor boat and explore areas of shore line unavailable by any other means.
To this end we were pointed in the direction of Loch Awe boats, by a friend as he knew they were only five minutes drive from our hotel in Portsonachan. We were greeted by the owners Cliff & Janet at the reception and were immediately put at ease which was reassuring as whilst I have wanted to the motor boat thing my wife was a bit more cautious about the idea.
They have a good range of boats to hire by day or half day, priced at £75 for the whole day in a cabin motor boat which could easily seat 4 - 6 people it was fantastic value for money. We asked for a cabin boat as we knew the weather on the Loch could change quickly and the cabin would offer some protection we hoped from the sun but more likely the wind and any rain.
Cliff & Janet went through how things worked very well, providing us with our life jackets, emergency contact details, a map with the most interesting points of the Loch to visit as well as any shallow points on the Loch to avoid.
Also an induction on how the motor boat engine works. Whilst this may be second nature to some, to the both of us it was our first, and found it to be far more simpler than we had imagined.
We throughly enjoyed our time out on the Loch it gives you a completely different prospective on how it looks, it's strange to see the cars on the road that only the day before you were driving on, looking only briefly at the Loch. But this time you had as much time as you needed to take in the beauty of the Loch itself.
We made our way back to the dock and after handing back our life jackets were asked if we would like a cup of tea which was most welcome indeed.
Whilst drinking our tea Cliff & Janet explained that the business had already been established for a good while, but they themselves had only recently taken over the running of it. It's clear to see they are already putting the stamp on the business and how much it means to them.
If your ever in the area and are looking for a worthwhile half day or day out I suggest you make your way to Loch Awe boats for one with a difference, run by two generally lovely people in Cliff & Janet.
Top tip : remember to wear sensible clothing as weather conditions can and did change for us, but luckily we were well prepared.
