We arrived on beautiful sunny march day to be warmly welcomed by a very friendly receptionist. We were even given a tour of the hotel and then taken to our room in the cedar wing. Our room was clean modern with stunning views across to Jura. We sat on the balcony (yes in march in Scotland) and soaked up the beautiful scenery with a cup of tea and loch melfort shortbread whilst enjoying the antics of the highland cows in the field adjacent. We had dinner from the Bistro menu which was limited as off season. Huge portions which was a bit off putting. We had dinner at 6.45 so got a window seat with the wonderful views. Tip eat early as the tables are not reservable.
We had a good nights sleep. Comfortable bed and temperature perfect in our room. Breakfast the next morning was continental and was pleasant.
I must commend the staff they are very friendly and hardworking. A really credit to the owners.
Loch melfort hotel is a wonderful little hotel and I would definitely recommend it to my friends and family. Thank you for making our stay very enjoyable.

We had an overnight stay at the end of march. We found the the staff friendly. We stayed in one of the ground floor rooms in the Cedar wing. These rooms are motel like but the room was clean and warm, all have terrific views of the loch. We had a deal which included dinner from the bistro menu which in our case was the fish in both coarse's.which was lovely and fresh and plenty of it, Here our only criticism would be, is that the mussel starter was served in a large pot and the main fish and chips was overflowing with salad. Its nice to get large portions, but sometimes to much can be of putting. Just a little less would make it a lot more pleasant. The service was a little slow but would put this down to the start of the season and it was busy. The view from the restaurant was also lovely. The breakfast was good we had the kippers and were excellent. If staying take a walk around Arduaine Gardens which are right next to the hotel. Would stay again.

Travelling down to Tarbert we called in here for a Coffee Break. What a lovely spot to sit and enjoy a very nice coffee while taking in the panoramic views of Loch Melfort. The staff were welcoming and efficient, even though we were only having coffees.

Well worth the stop, and we will certainly try to book a room here when we are next planning a Scottish trip.

Day one. Easy. Perfect. Quite perfect. Go. You will be enamoured. Staff happy, cheerful even, erudite, multi-national and effective. Service of the highest standard. Rooms, chalet style on the loch edge, cannot be faulted. Clean, pristine even; warm and spacious, stunning location which is better viewing than the TV. ( mounted sensibly, remote works, adjustable viewing angle). Needs WiFi in the rooms but good signal in allocated areas. Simple repeaters would do it.
Bathroom spotless, plenty of towels, shower works well and lighting around the mirror suits my wife...so that is a real plus.
Eye-candy walks around the on-site Ardouaine SNT gardens are a must. NT members go free but this is well worth a supplementary donation as it really is a gem. The climate helps. Frosts are rare here and so expect great floral displays from April through to July-August. We see many Rhododendrons in flower and it is March. Dogs on leads here, though the hotel is dog friendly and there is a beach walk to allow canine pursuits organised by the local rabbit population.
First evening...meal in the restaurant. Scallops, king, with cauliflower cream and exquisite artichoke hearts with a haunting drift of truffle adding to the whole wonderfully combined earth and sea symphony. Is that too hyperbolic...OK. Bloody excellent.
Main course of local lamb cutlet (singular...call it a chop) and a shoulder "confit"...hmmmm....unsure of this definition...but truly memorable. Cooked as required, a little light on the vegetables but more available on supplement (should not be this way). Fondant potato fluffy and well seasoned. A delight.
We decided against dessert but wandered back to the log-fire comfort of the lounge for large Armagnacs all round. I may still be here when you come to stay....which I insist you do.I may be in the Bistro.

We recently stopped here for a meal. What a great venue.

Really enjoyed the location, food and service.

I think this will be a regular haunt on our 2 or 3 visits to the area a year.

A hidden gem whether you're looking to eat or sleep.

Highly Recommended!!!
