Description: WelcomeWhether you've something to celebrate, are at the end of a hard day's walking in the hills, or simply fancy a break from cooking at home, it is our wish at Anderson's that you all feel welcome. Forget pretence, the atmosphere here is relaxed and informal, so sit back, switch off, and savour the pleasure of great food and drink. Local Produce At Anderson's we are committed to using local Scottish produce when it is in season, so needless to say, our menu changes each month, along with our daily specials. Each dish is lovingly prepared and bought together in such a way as to bring out the very best of truly great, fresh ingredients. Although our menu is creative, our aim is simple, to present you with food that we are confident you will enjoy, and that tastes fantastic.Family Friendly The whole family is welcome at Anderson's, and it is important to us that everyone can tuck into something they will enjoy. So for children we can either offer half portions of anything on the menu, or for specific likes or dislikes, please feel comfortable to say, and the chef will be happy to come up with something to suit- within reason! Similarly please make us aware of any special dietary requirements you may have.“It’s great to see a restaurant like Andersons opening up in Boat of Garten. Owners Steve and Claire have put a huge amount of thought and effort into their set up, and their intended philosophy of utilizing the best of Scottish produce should be a real boost to the local restaurant scene. I wish them every success for the future.” Nick Nairn

What a lovely evening! It wasn't just a fantastic meal but an experience. Staff made us welcome on our arrival bringing us a bottle of chilled water and lovely home made breads (treacle and herbs I think!)The menu was very varied and different. The ice cream choices were amazing. We had jaffa cake ice cream and lavender and lemon curd. Absolutely delicious. Great range of wines with full descriptions. What a lovely meal and fantastic value for money would definitely recommend. Many thanks to management and all the staff.x

Lovely little restaurant serving well cooked food, I particularly enjoyed the venison steak. The family all enjoyed their meals, there was not one poor dish served. The wine list while not long offered plenty of interest. We look forward to visiting again the next time we are in the area.

Considering the size of Boat of Garten, approximatley120 homes this restaurant always appears to be busy which means that a lot of customers are traveling some distance to eat here so a good idea is to make a booking to avoid disappointment. The restaurant itself has a rustic but welcoming feel, specials are shown on chalk boards which add to its style. The food is of an excellent quality and served by helpful waiters and waitresses.
The speciality of the house appears to be a unique mix of pies which are changed daily but you can also chose fish or steak if you prefer.
I have only one complaint and that is that we eat on a Wednesday and when I opened the menu it clearly stated that every Wednesday is Pie day offering pie and a drink for the normal price of the pie meal on its own. when I enquired about this I was informed that this was seasonal !! although it clearly says every Wednesday. Perhaps Mr Anderson needs to qualify his offer to avoid confusion. So then looking at the drinks a bottle of average Chilean Merlot for £18 is I think fairly expensive.
Having said that the food is of a very high standard and very tasty, explaining why it is always busy. We, my wife and I had a main course, sweet, and a bottle of wine for less than £60 which overall is also good value.

We returned to Boat of Garten for a week's holiday and squeezed in two visits to Anderson's in that time. Book early to avoid disappointment! it is not a big restaurant and can get very busy and a number of people were turned away when we arrived for our reservation on a Thursday night in the peak season. Very good food, pleasant and non-intrusive service. The menu is small but I'm sure there will be something that you like on it. There are also daily specials to add variety.

We visited Boat of Garten earlier in the year but were on half board at the local hotel and didn't eat out. Now we know what we missed as we made a special effort to go to Anderson's on our way to Cairngorm. The 3 of us each had different choices of starters. main course and ice cream. All were beautifully prepared and presented and tasted just as good as they looked and at £11.99 for 2 courses. Great value for money. I'm very much a vanilla man when it comes to ice cream but I was intrigued by one of the choices on the list of about 6 home made ice creams on the blackboard. Blackcurrant and liquorice... absolutely delicious and at £2 a scoop not at all over priced. We will definitely be back even though it will be an hours drive each way.
