The cottage is tastefully furnished and well eqiuipped. It's an eco-example in terms of its efforts to mitigate any adverse environmental impact.
The location is quiet and picturesque, affording access to many outdoor activities.
We visited as a family of four and had an amazing holiday. The house is beautifully located with fantastic views and stunning wild garden. We were lucky to see red squirrels and numerous birds at the feeding tables. Inside, the house is decorated with so many lovely Scottish touches and is fantastically equipped. Nice touch to have some local treats left for our arrival. The house has many walks at its doorstep including the speyside way. The local area has lots to do for all ages. Our hosts were very attentive. Would highly reccommend a stay here.
We stayed in this newly renovated cottage 0.5 miles from the centre of Boat of Garten for a long weekend in October. We absolutely love the Cairngorms area and have spent many happy holidays here over the last 18 years with our three children, staying in quite a few different cottages, but this is easily our favourite.
The cottage has been beautifully decorated and the owners have truly thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The cottage interior is perfectly laid out and very warm and comfortable, with a lovely wood-burning stove. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and modern and there is plenty of hanging space in the bedrooms. Opening up the curtains every morning and seeing the stunning views of the mountain landscape from the large windows was a particular highlight, as was the lovely balcony where we were able to sit out at night and watch the stars! Importantly, the wifi signal is excellent, which, along with the smart TV, kept our three teenagers very happy after a day of cycling/walking :) Although we didn't have time to enjoy the wild garden, it is completely fenced and would be a perfect place for younger children to explore and play safely.
The cottage is in a fabulous location. It is very private but is also only a short walk along a very quiet road to the centre of Boat of Garten, where there are two well-stocked shops (great for fresh bread and croissants every morning!) and it is possible to catch the steam train to Aviemore., There are many walks and cycle routes accessible directly from the cottage, including a lovely off-road route to Aviemore (about 5 miles) that follows the steam railway line, but it is also a great base to travel and visit the surrounding area. We would particularly recommend Rothiemurchus, Loch Morlich/Glenmore, the mountain funicular and Landmark.
Communication with the owners was great, both before and during our stay.
Overall, we absolutely loved this cottage and really didn't want to leave - we will definitely be returning. I would highly recommend this cottage for both families and couples.
