“Good value and always busy.”
Reviewed 11 April 2014

I frequent this bar often when I visit my son and daughter in law who live nearby. Four of us enjoyed a fairly pleasant feed on a very busy Saturday night. With Wetherspoons it is what it is - decent pub grub at affordable prices normally served with efficient staff. Excellent and varied drink choices. Good place to start a night out in a busy Saturday night town.

I'll be back.

“Great family dinner”
Reviewed 15 March 2014 via mobile

Went to the blacksmiths forge for a family meal. It was great value for money. The food came within 10mins and was delicious. The kids enjoyed drawing and having their pictures put up on the wall. Very friendly staff. Would recommend a visit. Noticed they run food offers most nights so can eat out more often without breaking the bank

“Service terrible”
Reviewed 8 March 2014 via mobile

Went here for a family meal. After getting our starters we sat and sat waiting for main meal. When I went and asked it was obvious they had forgot. Kids meals arrived 10 mins later. 5 adult meals another 10 mins later. 2 were lukewarm 1 was raw. Spoke 2 staff about this and nobody was interested. They blamed new staff. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone meal was awful service a disgrace.

“Very poor meal”
Reviewed 11 January 2014 via mobile

Having eaten at The Blacksmith's forge before, we knew that the meal would be at the value for money end of the spectrum, but were sadly disappointed at just how poor the service was. The meal took over half an hour to arrive, minus several items listed in the menu, such as butter to go with a baked potato. When the waiter brought the butter following our request, the potato was so cold that the butter didn't melt.

Customers were having to clear and wipe tables in order to find somewhere to sit, as used plates and glasses were piled up on tables as well as in the serving hatch which was completely covered in unwashed items. The general appearance of the premises is also very poor with threadbare carpets lining the stairs and corridors that lead to the toilets, inconveniently situated upstairs from the restaurant.
