The Lion and Swan was, well, brusque, off-putting and somewhat unwelcoming. A pleasant Cheshire town with interesting and diverse shopping, and a nice history - look up the story of how it became "Beartown"!

After being turned away from the Lion and Swan, we found a pub up the road serving food that couldn't do enough for us - even though their menu said they only served food Monday-Friday and it was Saturday, the staff still turned out a lovely and well-priced dinner for two. When I recollect the name of this pub I will rate it extremely highly on all counts.

Friendly and helpful staff and an asset to a town that has much more to offer than a casual visitor might realise. Great for those of us who live here too - there's lots of info on community activities, you can buy locally produced products as well as buying tickets for a wide range if events. Staff deserve the awards they have won.

The staff are all so pleasant and helpful, with the added bonus that they are well informed on such a wide range of topics. If you need assistance for your travels around Cheshire, or the UK, you will receive knowledgeable advice from the staff at the Congleton Tourist Info Centre.
The staff keep the shelves well stocked with an amazing amount of colourful brochures and booklets about attractions within the UK. They have schedules and fees and contacts for trains and buses and tours all over the country. They also have rare items such as paintings or cards from local artists, books on local history from local historians, and small gift items to tuck away for your friends. I've been visiting the Centre for 20 years, and have always received the details requested. Yes, Little Moreton Hall is closeby, and there is info available at the Centre! EE
