“Best pub in Congleton”
Reviewed 31 March 2014 via mobile

My favourite pub in Congleton selling the nesy beer in the world (Beartown). Old fashioned pub not ruined by loud TV or music.

“Wonderful beer, warm welcome - a must visit”
Reviewed 5 December 2013

I've frequented The Beartown Tap quite a few times and love it.
The bar is very well ran and the beer is kept perfectly. I normally go in for take out (they have a great range of their own bottled ales, including their award winning Wojtek) but do have the occasional drinking session there. Staff are all very friendly and helpful, they even tell me what temperature to serve the bottled beers at (bottled Wojtek needs cooling ever so slightly).
I often go there for my local running clubs socials, the pub does food for these including chilli, casserole, hot pot, various nibbles. I'm a rather fussy eater (vegetarian) but Julie always makes sure I have something suitable and it's always lovely.
They do entertainment including acoustic nights, open mic etc...
The beer is fantastic all CAMRA real ale, Kodiak Gold is a lovely, hoppy pint that replaced Copper Dragon as my favourite golden ale. Other varieties are on their website, there are plenty of hoppy / malty ales. Notable ales include Wojtek - won best strong pale ale in the world (deservedly so). They also do great seasonals including Ellava Bear - a nice sweet/hoppy one made from Ozzy hops. Even their Xmas seasonal ale (and I usually hate seasonal xmas ales) is lovely - malty with sweet flavours.
Oh, I almost forgot, it's prices are excellent.
Not done The Brewery Tour yet but it's on my to do list. The shop is great, they sell bottles, gift packs, local cheeses / chutneys and, best of all, mini casks and 18 / 36 l boxes.

“Take home treat”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

The brewery shop offers a selection of bottled beers to take away. Make up a mixed pack of three as a great gift and perhaps add some locally made marmalade or preserve (with beer as an ingredient of course).
Friendly service.

I've been coming to the Beartown Tap for years, and I've always found it to be nothing more than a wonderful place for family and friends to meet up and have a drink. Great atmosphere, good prices & selection of drinks, with wonderful service! Highly recommended on all grounds!
