My hubby took me to stay in this hotel for 2 nights for my birthday. The staff were very welcoming and pleasant. We stayed in Room 20 which is reputed to be haunted. The room has a 4 poster bed and an en suite with a jaccuzi bath. Breakfast was cooked to order and was well presented with lots of choices. The menu for evening meals has a wide variety. We decided on a roast dinner and it was beautiful. The owners have only been at the hotel for a few weeks and are doing a wonderful job. All the staff work together it make it run smoothly. We have already booked to return again in November

Spacious and clean room with comfortable bed. Nice views from the large, almost floor-to-ceiling, windows. The room was very quiet as was the hotel, at breakfast we were the only guests and breakfast was cooked just according to our wishes. Would definitely stay there again.

The only negative thing was the Z bed my son had to sleep in, it was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever come across. Even my son complained and he can usually sleep anywhere and anyhow.

I promised Matt at the hotel i would add this review so only right i do..
First time stay on the 20th June 2013.

I was booked in here by somebody who lives in Congleton and it is just what town hotels should be, the new owners are keen to make a good impression and are always knocking around, staff very pleasant and helpful, just an ideal base if you are visiting the area.
Rooms are very clean, breakfast is good and you can always get a nice drink in the main bar downstairs
Nothing more to say only thanks and i will be returning, hopefully in about a week or so
Thanks and good luck

A town hotel with a warm welcome. Great steaks for dinner. Good breakfast. Serviceable bedroom. Stayed here on the night before we collected Sam our Miniature Schnauzer 7 week old puppy in November 2012. A very hot log fire in the bar made this a memorable stay

Not the sort of place I would usually book, but it was close to my workplace on the following day. A warm welcome greeted me but I arrived late and didn't have time to eat in the evening. The menu looked interesting and I wish I had had the time. Breakfast was rushed as I had to leave early, but the service was good in the limited time I had. The room was comfortable and mine was the family room, which was very clean. Good night's sleep on a comfortable bed too.

Maybe we visited on a bad day, but we never got past the front door and reception. We had heard of this place through a TV show that stated it provided a bar and lunch menu to non residents. Visiting Congleton at about mid-day on a Saturday - surely an ideal and profitable time for a hotel to provide food service - we went in and saw the bar empty. A female member of staff, who by her appearance was maybe about nineteen or twenty, came out of an office opposite the bar an demanded to know what we were doing. We explained we had been informed the L&S provided bar food and an open pub bar and would like to inquire about the possibility of lunch for two. While she was not openly abusive and /or insulting, her reception skills certainly left a lot to be desired. We accepted the place wasn't open for lunch: we could see the bar was cold, still and empty. She repeated this in a very brusque manner and made it clear she'd like us to leave. There are ways and means of politely advising casual visitors the public areas of a hotel are temporarily shut for business;, she could have done this a lot more politely, perhaps encouraged us to visit again at a more suitable time. but she did none of these things, and I don't know what was in her head: maybe she thought we were sneak thieves or social undesirables, or something. We were dressed smart-casually and are generally well groomed, so it cannot have been our appearance! Therefore we won't exactly be rushing to visit again. A shame, as it looks a really nice place from the outside. Such a shame we didn't get to see much of the inside! (It may have improved since we visited? Was reminded when we visited Congleton again today)

Room Tip: Were unable to see the interior! Maybe dress sharply and look socially upmarket and as if you have...
