“Fab staff shame about the rooms”
Reviewed 10 April 2014

We had room 4 and the bathroom was across the landing, the beds were springy and stuck in your back.
Shower was like a tap dripping on your head! Room ok size but not great. No phone signal inside.
Glad the staff were so freindly but shame about the rest.

A warm ,friendly welcome from the lady of the establishment.
We stayed there for three nights
A well supported bar/dining room showing how well liked it is in the community. Tables reserved for us when we wanted to have evening meals at the hotel and what good, reasonably priced and superbly prepared meals they were, too! Go for the fish & chips on the Friday night - two meals for just £12:00 and the fish was hanging over the sides of the plates! Go there again.

Room Tip: Try to have room 1 - it's nearer to the top of the stairs.

Stopped by on our way home after staying nearby. Had lunch, we choose the steak and ale pie. The meat just fell apart it was that well cooked and the gravy was amazing. No steak and ale pie will live upto this very reasonable priced pie.

Called today for lunch, excellent topside of Beef served with fresh vegetables, cooked to order. Very nice atmosphere, clean, local pub serving a variety of beers including Barnsley Acorn..Well worth a short detour off the A64. We will definately be calling regularly from now on!!

Had a Christmas lunch here and thoroughly enjoyed it. Good fresh food, well presented, hot and with an excellent selection of fresh vegetables. Service was friendly and the pub was very clean. I would definitely try The Wentworth Arms again.

Once I had got over the confusion between Malton and Old Malton (a mile or so apart) I finally arrived at the Wentworth Arms and made acquaintance with the delightful Hazel. I should say at this point that the rating would have been average if it didn't have Hazel looking after things.

The room was clean but a bit tired, as was the bathroom, with no toiletries. Beware, if you arrive on a Sunday the last food orders are at 6.00 pm and there are no alternative eateries within walking distance. The food is standard pub grub - roasts as well on a Sunday - but there is a decent selection of ales.

There was a fair amount of noise, both from other guests and from the church bells across the road which chime though the night. In the morning road noise commences.

I'd made a bad miscalculation of the distance from the Yorkshire Wolds Way, which I was walking, but again Hazel came to the rescue, driving me the 6 miles to Wharram le Street to recommence the walk the next day and saving me a taxi fare.

The breakfast was not bad, but needed more in the cereal/fruit/yoghurt department.

Overall a reasonable choice.

We ate delicious rissotto in a pleasant bar on a Sunday evening. Our bedroom was clean and airy and breakfast hearty, with friendly service throughout. Also enjoyed a wonderful evening stroll around the picturesque cricket ground and churchyard opposite

Room Tip: Even quiet at night in the front, no complaints
