\I had found this hotel ona websearch and the fact that I could find no review on TripAdvisor of it, either good or bad, led me to take a chance on it, so I booked us in for four nights.
We were in their best room (room 7 for your info) and it was delightful. Very clean and spacious. The staff were very friendly, but not so much as to be in your face. The hotel is a large stone building set in its own grounds, but within a couple of hundred yards of the centre of the small town of Malton. Very nice restaurant, meals mainly in the Nouvelle Cuisine style, although more conventional food is available in the bar.
The only negative aspect of our stay was that there is no residents lounge, and you have to use the bar. Although very comfortable it's a touch small, even as a bar, for the size (20 bedrooms) of this hotel, so often there is nowhere to sit. Also the bar gets even busier as it seems to be well used by locals from the town - a good sign normally.
We would definitely stay again
