“A lovely place to stay”
Reviewed 3 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We had a wonderful week at Doodale Cottage. It was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean, and it was fascinating being in a place that is rooted in history whilst being a current and working farm. Roger and Sally were excellent hosts and had anticipated just what we needed for a comfortable stay. The location for us was ideal as we wanted to visit York, the North York Moors and the coast, whilst enjoying the facilities of a good town nearby. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

“This is a'six star' cottage full of character, convenience and cosy comfort”
Reviewed 21 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

From the moment we arrived, we loved our stay in Doodale Cottage in Old Malton. It was full of welcoming treats - freshly made ginger cake for us to have with our cup of tea, a chilled bottle of wine in the fridge and fresh eggs from the farm's hens. Sally met us on arrival and explained how everything worked and said that she was available for a tour of the farm or if we wanted any information.

The clever renovation/reconstruction of the old barn is a work of art with every convenience and comfort while the farm house character has been maintained. The king sized bed on the mezzanine level is firm and comfortable and the ensuite bathroom has an excellent shower with extra thick towels. There is a third bed if needed. Doodale is excellently equipped in every way and has very sharp knives - a great advantage. It also has a good selection of books.

There are two pubs within two blocks of the cottage. It is just over a mile from Malton and its market, shops, pubs and restaurants. It can which be reached by car or a pleasant walk along the river.

Old Malton is a 20 minute drive from the York, Park and Ride. It's within easy reach of The North York Moors and Whitby and Scarborough on the coast. Castle Howard is a ten minutes drive away.

I highly commend Doodale Cottage for anyone who wants to walk on the moors, visit historical York, tour the North Yorkshire coast or just relax and read.

“A taste of luxury in the yorkshire moors”
Reviewed 6 April 2015 for a stay in March 2015

From the moment of arrival nothing was too much trouble, the cottage was stunning and blew us away. We were greeted with a piece of home baked cake and fresh eggs from the farm. The cottage was spotless, cosy and always warm with great under floor heating, had immaculate fixtures and fittings with all the latest appliances. It all felt like we were the first guests to use it. Everything was taken care of, including advice on places to visit, detailed guides on eating establishments and their menus, there were a great range of books to read, games to play and music cd's to listen to. It was a fabulous place to stay, had great links to all major routes to the surrounding area and would love to stay here again soon. We would highly recommend a stay here.

Just returned from a four night stay at the delightful Doodale Cottage and we are already planning our return. After entering the farm via an electronic gate we parked up next to the cottage and the car didnt move until we left.
Newly and tastefully renovated to a very high standard, spotlessly clean, with free wifi and all the comforts of home you will find it difficult to stray far from the cottage. We strolled to the local pub, the Wentworth Arms literally 150m away with the intention of having a quick drink but the menu was too tempting and we sampled some delicious locallly sourced food.
The 25 minute walk into Malton along the riverbank was very pleasant and we quickly realised that this is a perfect base to discover the many other local tourist sites. York, Scarborough, Whitby, Castle Howard etc etc are all easily accessible by own or public transport. Eden Camp is a short walk away and Malton with its horse racing connection is a must.
Not a great deal more to say about the splendid cottage that hasnt been said before. Fab bedding, great towels, full sized and fully equipped kitchen, quality furnishings and materials used in the refurb makes this a perfect base for tourists or for those wanting a semi rural getaway.
Sally and Roger were great hosts and we had the pleasure of seeing two new additions to their rare breed cattle family during our stay. The welcome pack including fresh eggs from the farms chickens was a lovely touch, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and cannot recommend this property highly enough.

“Did not want to go home!”
Reviewed 9 March 2015 for a stay in March 2015

What a beautiful place to stay, Sally was so lovely with her greeting and the special touches in the cottage were greatly received. It was for my birthday weekend away and we did not want to come home at the end.
The cottage/barn was finished to a very high standard and we loved reading about how it all developed and the pictures to show the work progress.
The under floor heating was fab and there was no need to put the log burner on ( awwww..!) The bathroom , utilty room and all furnishings were of a very high standard and the level of cleanliness exceptional.
Would definately recommend to others.

“perfect and beautiful cottage”
Reviewed 22 February 2015 for a stay in February 2015

We have just returned home after a 3 night break to doodale cottage. What a beautiful cottage with everything inside you could wish for. All the extra personal touches made it really special. We had a fabulous time and cant wait to go back. So close to so many places and attractions but as soon as the door is closed it was wonderfully peaceful. Just Perfect
