4 of us stayed for 3 nights & what a lovely time we had. The hotel is warm & cosy and the food is excellent - something for everyone with very generous sized portions. We stayed in rooms 6 & 7 & found them to be extremely comfortable with plenty of space to put personal items away. We can't speak highly enough of the staff - nothing was too much trouble & they were so friendly & helpful. Plenty to do in the area & we will definitely be back for another visit.

Did 2 nights at the end of October on a KGB deal, excellent value for money. Staff friendly and helpful, food extremely good and the rooms pleasant and clean. Furniture dated but suited the old coaching house. The village was like stepping back in time, no shutters on the shop windows, locals were very pleasant and helpful and there are wonderful walks close by. We had a lovely couple of days and would recommend it.

Really enjoyed our short break at this hotel. Staff very friendly, room and bed very comfy, food excellent, varied and plentiful. Car park at rear of hotel, but if this is full plenty of street parking close by. Wonderful area for walking, great scenery, fantastic waterfalls. We would definitely recommend this hotel, either for a short or a longer break. Might not be so good for anyone with mobility problems, I never saw a lift - but I may be wrong, so worth asking.

Room Tip: If you are a cold body ask for the bedroom next to the boiler - it's roasting !

Dear 51plus,
You're right, we don't have a lift. We're a listed building and the staircase has its own listing which means we'll never be able to have a lift installed unfortunately.
There's any amount of great walks to do from the hotel straight into stunning scenery, up hills or down valleys.
Thanks for your great review and recommendation.

Dave

Took a short break at the end of October at the Teesdale Hotel on a KGB deal. Very good value with this deal. Given a single room which was adequate, good LED tv on wall with selection of tv & radio channels. Radiators not working but Dave had provided an electric radiator which soon warmed the room up. Thought the bathroom was a little small, the shower looked like it had recently been installed but took a long time to warm up. Enjoyed the meal in the restaurant. Good location High Force (well worth seeing) a couple of miles away also Beamish (which i recommmend) & Hadrians Wall.

Dear Davey308,
Thanks for your review. Thanks so much for taking a single room as you ended up coming on your own; it freed up a double room on a busy weekend. Apologies about your radiator problem; I just couldn't get it to bleed at the time, but it's sorted now!
You'll have to come back another time to see the rest of Beamish Open Air Museum, it's impossible to do it all in a day.
All the best
Dave

Just returned from a 2 day midweek stay on a KGB deal and it was lovely. You need to realise that this is an old Coaching House and not some modern box. The place was spotlessly clean and all the staff were lovely and friendly. The nearby area has outstanding beauty and the nearby HIGH FORCE waterfall is worth a visit.
The food and drink were very good and we would certainly return although I would probaly not pay the full list price. Would certainly recommend

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front. Road noise not a real problem

We stayed here for a weekend break and it was wonderful - friendly staff, a warm welcome and the food was really good - especially the breakfasts. The hotel is in a great setting, ideal for walking to High force, a spectacular waterfall and High Cup Nick, which is breathtaking. It snowed too which made everything even more picturesque. We highly reccomend this hotel to anyone wishing to visit this area.

Dear Wendy H,
Thanks for your great review and recommendation!
It is really beautiful up here when we have snow, and we're always still accessible; the roads are always thoroughly cleared and gritted.
