Spent one night here with another couple and enjoyed it very much. Quite small and a bit run down in places but pleasant staff and room was clean and comfortable. Easy to find with car park at the back. Cosy bar with good choice of beer, wine and cider. Was busy and seemed popular with locals too. Nice big dining room - pleasant atmosphere. Needed more staff on as food took a while to get to us and there were only 2 people taking orders/serving but food was great when it arrived. Not too fancy but hot and well cooked and presented. Breakfast was fine - good size portions and locally sourced products.
Good value for money as only £70 B and B with evening meal costing us £45 for two of us including coffee and wine. Will definitely go back there and saty longer to explore the area.

Room Tip: Turn the radiator down in the room as got very hot initially - nice on a cold day but too hot for ni...

Dear Jackie504032,
Thanks for your fantastic review! We're very proud of our food; all cooked from fresh local produce. We are continuing to work hard to improve this great old building in a 'sensitive' manner. Hope to see you again.

Dave

We found this place in the AA Pub Guide and planned our tour to have lunch there. We had no difficulty parking in the Hotel Car Park. The food and drink were excellent and the service exemplary. We sat in the open air and were offered a sun umbrella which was very effective. Altogether , a really enjoyable experience and I would definitely go there again !

Lovely place to arrive after 10 hours walking on the Pennine Way. Plenty of hot water in the bath. Good food and excellent service. We truly recommend the place and would like to come again. Ragnhild and Hilde, Norway

Stayed here for two nights on a KGB deal. The owners were very welcoming and nothing was too much bother. The place is quite old and was being given a thorough tidy up and redecoration on. Evening meal was excellent, large and tasty; some excellent beers on draught and a nice house red. Breakfast was cooked individually.

Bed room was at the front so there was a degree of noise with the snow ploughs going through otherwise peaceful!

Dear KirkbyTony,
We're really glad you enjoyed your stay! The refurbishments stepped up a gear after your stay - we were closed for a week and redecorated the bar and we're really pleased with it; still cozy but really fresh and new. Thanks for the great review! Regards, Dave

We recently took a mid-week 2 night break at the Teesdale hotel and would highly recommend it !!! The staff were very friendly and helpful, suggesting different places to visit etc.. The room was very nice and warm, it was quite cold outside, but not in the Teesdale Hotel bar with its lovely log fire !!! The breakfast was very good and we also ate in the restaurant at night which was excellent and very good value for money. Well worth a return visit!!

Room Tip: go for an upgrade - its well worth the £15.00 per night per room

We spent a Sunday and Monday night at the hotel with a KGB deal. We found all the staff and manager Dave to be really friendly and helpful. It was lovely just being in the bar with locals. The food was lovely, we ate both evenings and the breakfasts were great with lots of choice and full English cooked to order. The staff knew a lot about the local area which was helpful. We had a great walk in the snow from Low Force to High Force and found some bargains in the bookshop across the road run by volunteers. There's interesting photos on the wall in the bar showing the hotel when it was called the Cleveland. There were a few too many nicknacks and silk flowers for me but my husband thought it made the place more homely and personal. (Maybe I just thought about all the dusting) We had a lovely time and would recommend it.

From the moment we arrived we knew we would love our 2 night stay, the room was lovely and cosy with all amenities could ask for. First night went out a little to see what was around, to find only the co-op down the road, so ate in the hotel, food lovely! After that spent the rest of the night in the bar with the manager David and locals (Laura). Great laugh and down to earth. Even though the weather wasnt the best and everywhere was snowed over we were determined to see the waterfalls and walk around the countryside. Low Force and High Force are great and it makes it so much more scenic in the snow! Gibsons Cave however was closed due to a landslip which was a shame. Second night we decided to venture out to The Crown pub, in Mickleton, which was to say the least , disappointing and overpriced , caring more about the presentation than what they are serving. Should have stayed in the hotel. Overall a great hotel and great place. Thanks David, Justin and Sally!

Room Tip: Room 6 or 9, cant remember now, at the very front of the hotel , 1st floor, with the bay window! Lov...
