Robin runs a great camp site and is ever the optimist about the glorious weather! More important he and the team ensure the perfect cleanliness of the well equipped toilet block, availability of firewood and the general tidy, organised condition of the site. With electric hook up, two of us and the tent for three days across an August weekend for £60 seems like a bargain to me.
The location is great and we walked direct from the tent, north towards the moors which we climbed and crossed before heading down to a tributary of the Tees and back into Middleton in Teesdale itself. Ten or so miles of varied terrain, views and, on an August Saturday, not a single other person seen - priceless! We needed the map, compass and a bit of careful navigating though as the paths on the moor have a beginning and an end but not much in between. Walking back through the village we found an excellent set of shops, pubs, restaurants and all in a pretty small place. It's hard, in fact for me, impossible, to find anything to fault about Leekworth Caravan Park. Oh just one last thing - it's just as much about tents and camper vans as caravans so don't be put off by the name if you prefer to be under canvas.More
