Having called at this little gem on a couple of occasions whilst out walking we finally booked in for the weekend and we weren't disappointed. We were made very welcome from the start. Our room was tastefully furnished and roomy, the bed very comfortable. The meals were excellent, from the delicious slow cooked beef in the evening to the plentiful breakfast in the morning, accompanied by fresh, home baked bread. In the days when hundreds of pubs are closing how nice to see this rural gem thriving. First class!!

Went to this location as a 'mid way' for family. Unsure as to what we would find.
This was a celebration of daughters 40th birthday. The location was excellent. The food could not have been bettered, hospitality was excellent. All in all, will definitely make a detour to visit again. To put it bluntly, fan blo@dytastic.. Many thanks!

Found this pub by chance and so glad we did, stunning location, lovely warm welcome, excellent food the braised beef was awesome, wish we could have stayed longer, we will defiantly return and next time maybe even stay over for the night. Think this could be my new favourite country pub!!! Tip: take cash as they dont take cards.

We visited the Strathmore Arms today at lunchtime. What a lovely place. We always look for dog friendly pubs when we are camping, which we are at the moment in Middleton in Teesdale a few miles away. This place certainly did not let us down, delightful hosts, wonderful food in great portions and our dog was even brought treats out by the landlady - lovely touch, thank you very much for making us all so welcome. Lovely open fire too.
