“Good place to stay in Seaton”
Reviewed 11 July 2013

This stay in Seaton was arranged by our walking holiday company, Contours Holidays. We must admit that having walked from Exmouth to Lyme Regis, this town was our least favourite place.
However, the hotel itself was fine. The accommodation is not luxurious but it is clean and comfortable and best of all it is friendly. The seagulls are a bit noisy though!
We decided to eat at the pub for our night in Seaton (there is very little to choose from in Seaton) and we had a very nice time. The food was generally pretty good which we followed by a great night of darts.
It's a shame that the bar wasn't busier but the whole town seemed very quiet, even on a hot Saturday night.
Won't be rushing back to Seaton but if we ever need to go again would be happy to stay at this hotel.

With 4 of us having the steak with pepper sauce, another having the chicken and one more woth the gammon there was a good selection. With the steaks all cooked to perfection, a lovely pepper sauce that hinted rather then overpowering, accompanied by chips, fresh tomatoes, onion rings and mushrooms, four plates were emptied rapidly. The only reason anything was left on the other two plates was due to smaller tummies. The six of us wouldn't hesitate in recommending Eyre Court for high quality good quantity food at realistic prices, plus the waitress offering high quality service whilst keeping an eye open for any query from the diners.

We, the wife and I (both in our 70s) stayed here last week for two nights. The room was clean. light and airy, and there is no noise, other than Seagulls squawking, at night. The included breakfast was very good, and the meals which we took, large and tasty. I have nothing but appreciation for the service given by the very friendly family who own and run the hotel.
Seaton is a bit of a backwater, but to us, that makes it very attractive, and it also provided a base to look at Sidmouth (the Connaught Gardens must not be missed), and Exeter (which I last visited as a student some 50+ years ago). The Cathedral was stimulating (why is it we always look around churches when abroad but take them for granted when at home?), the rejuvenated Quay most attractive, and the integrated (old and new) town centre a model for others.

Room Tip: Meals Monday to Wednesday are served 6 to 8 pm so don't be late.

We were recommended to eat here by our B&B owner. We thought the décor a bit dated and tired, the staff were very helpful and the waitress came promptly and took our order. I went for Ham egg and chips and my wife for Paella. Mine was ok with plenty of ham. My wife's Paella looked like no Paella I have ever seen a sort of tomato and rice 'Gloop' which nevertheless was apparently tasty. Presentation definitely lacking.

It was a lovely room very clean my only grumble the bed was hard but thats just me so might not be a big deal to others. We had a lovely breakfast every morning with a good choice on the menu and all the staff were lovely.Really nice for a base if you want to get out and about i would stay here again for sure.

Room Tip: think all the rooms are about the same.

Decided to stay on the coast for a night as weather was good, tried to find a decent value room in Lyme Regis which proved to be impossible for a Monday in April. Drove onto Seaton and found this hotel far more reasonably priced. Made to feel welcome and staff very efficient. Room was clean and sufficient for a nights stay with a good breakfast in the morning. Relaxed in the lounge bar in the evening. Can recommend staying here for exploring the beautiful coast close by.

After reading reviews on Trip Advisor I thought that this hotel would be suitable for 2 adults and 2 young children however that was definitely not the case. It appears that any family with young children will be placed in Room 9 which is only accessible from outside the hotel and includes at least 12 steps to get into the room itself. The door at the top of the stairs does not lock and so it is very difficult to keep young children inside. The door handle to the bathroom was loose and could not be locked either. There was no wifi access. The single beds were very soft and my head was lower than my legs and there were stains on the carpet. On a more positive note, the full English breakfast was very good. I had booked for 2 nights but left after one night.
