Reviewed 4 April 2012

Leaving Bristol for a run down to Cornwall at 6pm we decided to break up the journey with a last minute booking at Garfield House.

Arriving at around 9pm we were shown to the garden room by the Helen the owner. The room had recently been refurbished but retained much of its old country charm. A Large double bed (very comfortable) was much appreciated & insured a great nights sleep.

The en suite bathroom was something more akin to what i would expect from a Hotel. Lovely Bath, Underfloor heating. Premium Toiletries & Lovely Towels. Perfect for a soak after a long drive.

The complimentary coffee & tea selection in the room was fantastic, served with fresh milk & Homemade biscuits.

The breakfast in the morning was the star of the show & set us up for the rest of the day. Freshly prepared on the Range cooker by Helen. The Homemade bread was exceptional!

A small criticism which I will mention was the immersion heater which could be a bit loud when hot water was run but this pales in significance to the TLC which is present at Garfield House.

The little touches often make the difference & were most appreciated by these happy travelers.

Helen please keep up the good work.

My partner found Garfield House via Laterooms.com.

Room Tip: The Garden Room has a lovely en suite

Dear Daniel
Thanks so much for taking the time to write your review, and so positive too!

I'm glad you appreciated the "little touches" - Helen and I have tried to think about those things that have irritated us about other Hotels on our travels and we do our best to avoid them now we're doing it ourselves.

I'm really sorry if you found the whirring from the bathroom when water is flowing a little loud. This was most likely from the waste macerator pump which we have to have because the downstairs bathroom is below the level of the public drains. It's a quirk of living in the country!

Thanks again for your appreciation - it's one of the things that makes running Garfield House so enjoyable.

Tony
