“It was okay”
Reviewed 27 July 2014

Bit pricey to get in for what it was. It was small, and I thought the gardens weren't really kept as well as they should have been.
The car park is small so if you go during school holidays or on a bank holiday, go early or be prepared to park on the road outside.

“An excellent time limited visit”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

Takes less than 2 hours to really enjoy this lovely property. As with many visits to NT properties the guides really make it. Well worth fitting this in on your way.

“Beautiful old house and gardens”
Reviewed 15 July 2014 via mobile

Really lovely old building with wobbly floors and non straight walls.

Gardens were beautiful, full of flowers.

Really nice.

“an oasis of gentility”
Reviewed 30 June 2014 via mobile

Small and charming National Trust property, small formal gardens. Lovely Tea Room. They also offer the place as a wedding venue, which makes for pretty photos. A haven of peace relatively close to Liverpool and Preston.

“Lovely compact property”
Reviewed 25 June 2014

Set within some relatively small (by NT standards ) but beautifully tended gardens this property is an eclectic mix of styles from Tudor Manor Hall to Victorian interior design with some really interesting rooms which you cant photograph but you can take pictures in the Great Hall. Knowledgeable and helpful volunteers and a nice tea room complete the package that is well worth a visit.
