Lovely small hotel, room looked recently refurbished and was clean, comfortable and contemporary, bed very comfortable and en suite facilities great, terrific shower. Blackout blind on the window was really good for blocking out street lamps, the hotel sits on a main road but we certainly didn't hear any traffic noise. Dinner was excellent, traditional food served with a modern twist and the presentation was beautiful, ample portions too, and a very decent wine list too. Breakfast was lovely too, waitress served unlike the usual buffet-type affair, which was good, either the Full English or the healthier fruit platter option are both delicious and ample. The staff were all very pleasant, smiling, cheerful and attentive both at reception and the restaurant. A choice of train stations in the surrounding area made it very easy to get to either Manchester or Liverpool, I opted for a day's shopping in the latter and it was about 35 mins away by train although Rufford itself is a lovely rural location. Wouldn't hesitate to go back there if we were in that area again.
