“Excellent Restaurant”
Reviewed 8 August 2014

What a lovely meal we had. The restaurant itself is lovely inside, clean and modern.
The staff are so attentive and you get looked after well. The food was beautifully presented, freshly made and tasted delicious. Food was also piping hot which is always a must for us. The portion sizes are just right with great attention to detail.
In addition they have some great offers on (3 courses for £15)
We have never been disappointed when we have eaten here and although we hadn't been for a while it reminded us of just how great it is.
Cant wait to come back

Just wanted to say thank you for making us so welcome yesterday as always. From the minute we arrived everyone was so helpful and friendly as always! Our room was lovely as we were staying overnight, however our family came to join later for a meal to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful time and the staff went above and beyond to make it special for us. Thank you once again!

The Rufford Arms Hotel was noisy with creaky stairs and landings, very thin walls and right on the main road.
We did not use the restaurant facilities but the menu looked good and other guests seem to like it.

Room Tip: As far away from the main A59 as possible

Absolutely perfect meal and excellent customer service. As a family, we have eaten here on numerous occasions and have always had a great experience. Starters, main courses and desserts were cooked to perfection. The house Rose was very good. The staff were very attentive and polite. We will return.

Although I've never stayed in the hotel, me and my family have ate in the restaurant 6/7 times and each time has been excellent, we cannot fault it.
Me and my family agree that this is one of the best restaurants we have ever been to. The service is always attentive and nothing is too much trouble. We feel that the food is really good value for money, especially the set 2 course menus and even the kids menu is excellent. The desserts are delicious too. I would highly recommend this restaurant, even if you don't live in the local area, it is defiantly worth the drive to get here. We look forward to our next family occasion so we can visit the restaurant again.

This review is solely based on the hotel, not the restaurant.

We stayed here Friday to Sunday, visiting the area for my brother-in-law's wedding. The hotel is in a canny location, really easy to get to and was well situated for where we wanted to be that weekend.

Once in the hotel reception you see it's pretty average, nothing to sniff at, after all you're not going to be sleeping there!

Now to the rooms. The beds are comfortable enough. The one major point though, which I'm sure is down to the weather, is that the rooms were incredibly hot and stuffy. Unfortunately we couldn't open the two windows far enough to create a decent through draft as the flies would all pile in! The upstairs corridor window was left open all day and when we returned in the night there were hundreds of flies! Thankfully our room window was shut so we didn't have any.

So it's hot but you can't do anything about it!

Oh, and two family members in a separate room were kept up until the early hours of the morning by a lady taking men into her room. After creating a whole load of noises she left at around 5am so they got an hour or so of sleep. Make of that what you will.

I'd go again if they had fly screens, and because the restaurant attached is amazing.

Hotel Review

I’m glad you to hear that you thought our hotel was comfortable, and also well-located for your needs. As outlined in the guest information in your room, we can supply you with any additional items you may require. Should you have requested, we could have provided you with a fan for your room if you felt it was too hot, which would have quickly remedied the situation. Who would have expected the summer to be so hot for a change.
If other guests are making a disturbance (especially until 5am), please contact the duty manager using the numbers provided (located on reception and in your room). He/she will be happy to come investigate and do what they can to prevent the disturbance continuing. We do hope you come to enjoy our hotel at another time and thank you for your 5* review of the restaurant.

Came with my parents for dinner tonight, food was outstanding!! Ordered from the two courses for £11.99 and what value! Pleasantly stuffed we reluctantly asked for the desert menu just to see what they had to offer and opted to finish with a slice of lemon tart for one and just ice cream for the other two. Delicious! Having had some not so great experiences in other restaurants when all the family get together (9 adults and 5 children) we have definately found our future family meal venue!! Also I already know what I'm having next time!

Restaurant Review

Thank you for your 5* rating of the restaurant. Always good to get positive feedback when we all work so hard to exceed expectations. As for your problems with the breakfast waiter, we will be monitoring the situation. Thank you for bringing it to our attention, and thanks for taking the time to write the review.
