If you are going to hike or drive through the Picos de Europa I highly recommend staying at the Casa Cayo.

The staff don't speak very much English but they were very helpful, polite and made a very early check out easy for us.

Lots of parking available near the church. Rooms are outdated but charming which fits the village and are very clean. Only stairway access to the rooms.

Popular restaurant and bar on the ground floor.

I stayed in this Hotel quite a few years ago with a group of friends touring N Spain on our Motorcycles, we had intended to stay for 2 Nights but were treated so well and enjoyed the great atmosphere, that we used it as a base for a week and absolutely loved it.

I received a hand written Christmas card for years until I moved house, who knows probably still arriving at my old address. I hope the new occupants would be tempted to try the hotel, I'm sure they wouldn't be disappointed. I could not speak higher of the service and genuine friendship offered. Fantastic hosts.

Room Tip: From my room and those of my friends the rooms were of a generally good standard, because of the opt...

Stayed for two nights as part of a tour of Northern Spain, while we did the Fuente De decent. What a great hotel this is. We have never had service as good as this. We had excellent rooms leading out onto our personal patio overlooking the beautiful town of Potes, the river and the mountains beyond. We were sitting out there enjoying a locally purchased bottle of wine when the owner noticed we were drinking out of plastic cups. He brought up huge Casa Cayo wine glasses and olives and nuts for us even though we had purchased the wine elsewhere. Had a G and T here. The waiter made its preparation into an art form and it was the best I've ever had. The hotel is right in the centre of things but the rooms weren't noisy. The beds were not the most comfortable but the room had character and had plenty of space. Just a half bath in the ensuite but it was amazing what they achieved in little space. Breakfasts were good, service excellent.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back lead onto the large balcony/patio with magnificent views and are quiet.

Stayed here for 3 nights on a bike trip. Potes is brilliant, bang on for a bike trip, picturesque and quaint but with enough going on to grab a few beers or the obligatory cider!

Perfect hotel to base yourself at, lockup 5 mins down the road and right amongst the bars & restaurants. Roads in both directions are fantastic.

Stayed here 3 nights in September as part of touring Northern Spain. What a find, the hotel is wonderful with fantastic staff, food, atmosphere, it has it all.
Our room was on the second floor at the back of the hotel overlooking the river. I would suggest you ask for a room with a 'big' bed as I know that some rooms only have a 4'6" bed. Ours was two singles zipped together making the bed a decent 6'.
We only paid 45 euros a night and couldn't believe how good the hotel was. It had everything you needed in the bathroom, including toothbrushes, which you normally only get in a 5 star hotel.
I didn't expect a hairdryer, but there it was!
Food in the restaurant was really good and hearty and the staff were brilliant and so happy which gave the whole place a wonderful atmosphere.
Casa Cayo was smack bang in the centre of the old village. Parking was easy as there's a big car park round the corner.
Picos mountains is a wonderful place for walking. So much to see and do and 3 days was not enough.
Well done to all the staff, we will be back!

Room Tip: Room at the back of the hotel

Stayed 20-26 Sept 13. Booked purely on the basis of TripAdvisor reviews and certainly didn't disappoint!

Dead centre of the old part of Potes town with views from room and terrace across the central river gorge, the castle and straight up into the hills. Busy pedestrian street to front lined with cafés and bars but backing onto the river it is pleasantly quiet on the terrace and in the rooms no matter how noisy the town. Free car parking a 200m walk but can drive to within 30m of hotel.

Spotless rooms, well equipped and spacious. Would rate as 3*+. Residents sitting room and terrace very comfortable and quiet. Staff very accommodating; moved us in to a room with views as soon as one came available.

Downstairs in the the restaurant and bar the service is exceptional. Staff very friendly and engaging; they clearly enjoy running the place and dealing with customers. Menu is as you would expect for an area focused on the outdoors, hearty portions to say the least but cooked and presented to a high standard throughout. Fantastic value as well and there is always the option of tapas at the bar throughout the day which is useful if you're in and out at awkward times.

A thoroughly enjoyable stay; cannot recommend highly enough.

Room Tip: Rooms over the terrace have fantastic views and are cooler.
