“Great value for the money we paid!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2011

I and my wife stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. The room was clean just as the hotel, nicely furnished. Very good breakfast - great choice from freshly baked croissants to meat rolls and sweet stuff of various kinds. Bus stop to Venice right across the street (buses run every 15 minutes at weekdays and every 20 min at weekends. A very nice pizza place "Lady pizza" right behind the corner. Bars, other restaurants, small shops and a supermarket within walking distance (not more than 15min).

This hotel is a little gem. Great transport links into Venice with decent bars & restaurants on the doorstep. The bathrooms are very small, but spotless. Overall excellent value. I would have said excellent for service as the staff are lovely & really helpful. There was unfortunately one member of staff who really spoilt our last 2 evenings which was a shame. We had been drinking in the bar on one evening & was told it was closing in 5 minutes then the lights turned off !! The second evening my hubby & i returned earlier than our friends to find all the lights off in the bar. Our friends on their return had to knock to be let in at about 2am. We had a great time but it would have been excellent to have had our last 2 evenings as good as the previous ones.

No free shuttle unless you travel after 9am. The rooms are just big enough to stand in.....basic is the best description. Staff was just OK...though the morning man was great! Internet cost is 3 Euro an hour....seems pretty steep. Not my best recommendation.

Budget priced Hotel. Very good value. Breakfast was excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good bus links to Mestre railway station and a direct bus to Airport and Venice. Tram also passes right outside but doesn't go all the way to Mestre railway station, stops about 250m short. No-good restaurants nearby so eat in Mestre centre or Venice. There is a bus direct from the Airport but can't remember the number. It's only 5 mins away anyhow so this Hotel is ideal for budget travel and those relying on public transport.

Directions: From Treviso there is a bus from the airport that takes you to Mestre station for seven Euros each. From there take the bus number 19, it will take you right past the hotel. The bus ride is about 20-25 minutes and after you see the tram lines on the ground it is the next stop. The website also will tell you the exact bus stop, but i can't remember it now.
The room is small and you will get two pushed together not a double or queen. The AC, doesn't really work. We were there in Spring, and the room was still really hot with the AC on. The shower is fine and there are a lot of tv channels, however they are mostly in Italian.
Breakfast in the morning is good, it's the same everyday, but the people that serve breakfast are friendly and there is a nice selection of different cold foods.
The people working in the reception were not very helpful or friendly. I think they could have made a little more effort to be nice when we asked them questions, one girl laughed at us when we asked if there was a Hotel Ducale in Florence.. seemed a little rude.
Anyway not a bad place, much cheaper than you will get in venice and the bus ride is very cheap. The number 19 bus runs until 10, so if you are going to Venice for night life you might want to look into other ways of getting back to the hotel before you book.

Before I went to Venice I checked the directions how to get in and out of the Venice airport and to the Hotel Ducale. On the reviews nothing much was said about the directions on how to get there from the airport, from the hotel to Venice(the hotel is in a town(Favaro) about 20 minutes to Venice). If it's your first time to check-in to Hotel Ducale you can e-mail me for directions ([---]).
Anyway, the hotel is about 6 minutes from the airport by bus. The service was very good especially the food service people that served the breakfast buffet. I traveled in March so it looks like that the European hotels have their automatic heaters still on which felt so warm inside the rooms. I just opened the window during the night which made my sleep comfortable.
There is a pizza place on the right side(outside) of the hotel. For bus tickets you can buy them at the Piazzale Roma (main bus terminal in Venice) or if the newspaper store near the bus stop opposite the Hotel Ducale. Bus no. 19 and 4 goes to and from Venice-Piazzale Roma for Euro 1.20 one way(@ 1 Euro = 1.41 US dollars)

The hotel situated in mainland and was easy to reach by bus/taxi. The bus stop was outside of the doors and quiet frequently run. The breakfast was fantastic! you are free to have everything you like- cereals, cakes, salami, boiled eggs, cheese etc...
Only one thing we didnt like about it, there werent alot of places to go in the evening. however they have nice piazzeria around the corner which freshly made in front of you and it's absolutely delicious! If you stay for 3nights- its the best place, and good value of money!
Dont forget to buy travel card- it worth every penny you spend on it...

Room Tip: Love Venice
