“Wonderfull Little Quiet Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 September 2008

Wonderfull little hotel.!!! Is located in a very quiet area, 1 min away from a bus stop. Venice is very near by, maybe 20 min away on a bus. If you are tempted to take a car and park it in Venice, don't do it, not worth the trouble. Bus is clean, cheap and vey reliable. Just purchase your both way tickets at the hotel, this way you don't have to worry about your return.
This hotel is great place for people with children ( I have 3). Very clean, safe. Staff was very helpfull. We have travelled for a month throughout Europe and I found that they have the best breakfast... lots of fresh fruits, (which I found were lacking at every other hotel), yogourts, breads, etc.

  • Liked — Healthy breakfast and free internet access
  • Disliked — No place to soak tired feet ( not a joke)

My friend booked this hotel on the convenience that we needed to be at the airport in the early morning and it was best to stay at a mainland hotel the night before than direct from the island.

The hotel is clean and the staff helpful. We only stayed one night and found the accommodations to our satisfaction.

The hotel was great, I would have given them a higher rating but the location is so far away. Honestly I think it is only about 6 miles away from Venice but you have to take a bus (not a vaporretto, a bus) and the bus makes 50 million stops. So it ends up being about 20 minutes to Venice. Plus you have to factor in waiting for the bus (it claims to come at specific times, but our experience was those time were more of a "vague suggestion"). Also, Venice is really cool, but part of the charm is the difficulty of navigating the twisting and turning streets, well the busses stop about 1am. So if you want to go out late night in Venice this is NOT your hotel. There is no way you can comfortably drink in Venice and think you'll be able to find the bus before it leaves. As far as the hotel itself, it is nice. The staff is nice, most of them speak english, there is AC, it is immaculately clean, the breakfast is AWESOME! This is the best breakfast I have had in Europe. So if you are planning on having a car, this is a good choice. If you have kids or something and you are interested only in value, good choice. My husband and I are younger and really wished that we had sacrificed some of the hotel's amenities to be actually in Venice.

  • Liked — The breakfast was amazing!
  • Disliked — The location is really far away.

I feel I have to jump to the defense of this hotel having read some very harsh and unfair reviews. Myself and my partner returned from the hotel only today, and we were both very sad to go. Venice is of course beautiful, but also pricey, and for this reason we booked outside of the main area. When we arrived in Favaro (after only a 10 minute & 1.10 Euro journey from Marco Polo Airport) we were thrilled with the area, it's amenities (local bars / restaurants and friendly shops), and the realisation that it would only cost another 1.10 Euros to reach Venice directly by bus (bus stop a 30 second walk from the hotel). The bus service incidentally runs from very early in the morning until gone midnight, and so the actual distance from Venice is no issue at all. I loved the position of the hotel and enjoyed exploring Mestre on the sleepy Sunday we spent there. Further to my appreciation of the position Hotel Ducale, I really feel that it is excellent in terms of service and facilities. It's true, the room was on the small side, but it was spotlessly clean, had everything we needed and all staff were very courteous and helpful. It is true that the English-speaking TV consisted only of Eurosport, but then again, I question whether when travelling to a country where English is not the first language, you can (or should) expect otherwise?! Overall this is a lovely hotel, and I would definately say good value for money. P.S. the view from our balcony was perfect.

  • Liked — Position, atmosphere, cleanliness, breakfast served until later than most hotels.
  • Disliked — No bath and shower a little small (but powerful)

We did a 2 day trip to Venice for under £100 each.
Used Ryanair from Liverpool to Treviso, to get to Hotel Ducale there are several options.
Ryanair bus from the airport (excellent) to Venice Bus Station then get the No 19 Bus to Hotel. (quick) Total return cost 12E pp

Ryanair bus to Train Station (2nd stop) get No 15 bus to Hotel
Both buses stop outside hotel.
Buses are so easy to use, buy your ticket from the many ticket points, get on the bus , put your ticket into the machine which validates it, sit back & enjoy.

If you want a taxi (eg 4 persons) use Daytransfer (book online) cost 50E each way. keep away from Shuttle direct.

The Hotel is clean, the staff great, breakfast OK, rooms are a bit small but for the price is excellent value for money, you will pay up to 4 times as much 15 minutes away in Venice. Great restaurant only 100 yds away if Hotel restaurant is closed. plenty of bars.
If we wnt back to Venice would do the same again.
