This has been my favourite accommodation in India so far. It's right on the beach (very quiet and peaceful).
There are a selection of different huts amoungst the palm trees at very reasonable rates, we stayed in karaka B which was beautiful as you can fall asleep to the sound of the sea. All the huts are ensuite and surrounded with beautifully kept gardens.
They cook you whatever you like and how you like it which was a treat for us being vegans! The food really is delicious. Breakfast is included in the room rate.
What really sets this place apart from others is the staff, they really go the extra mile to make your holiday relaxing and comfortable, they are all happy and welcoming. The owner, Venu, is always on hand to help and has excellent English should you need him to help with bookings etc.
I really am sad to leave this place, so relaxing.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the huts closest to the sea to hear the waves!

Pranav Resort is essentially an afterthought, based on which the owner decided to convert a prime beach-side property into a beach resort and threw in the works, providing a full package for a very reasonable cost.
It is located 3 km from the Rly Station/ Bus Stand and is located on the landward side of the road that runs along the beach for a nice 5 km stretch. Hop skip and jump in fact would land you too far in the water, it's that close to the sea!
It has a few AC and non AC cottages, which are not its best feature, but are basic, comfortable, clean and with attached bathrooms with running water.
The ambience is brilliant, with just the wind blowing whistles through the night air, in an otherwise silent setting of waves breaking.
The staff are extremely courteous and humble, but English isn't their strength, though they do try ad convey the intent.
The food is amazing, tasty, wholesome and local, and it is true paradise if you love this part of your stay. Dogs are permitted here, as long as they stay peaceful.
The compound is safe, wooded, green and large and has ample parking.
They even have a traditional Ayurveda massage and Kalaripayattu (martial arts training) facility, the former for treatment or pleasure.
The rates are good for every bit of the add-ons and they even arrange for local sightseeing, including vehicles and guides, if asked for.
My reco:- When at Kannur, stay here a couple of days. You may not get a beach to yourselves the way you do hereabouts! You can even try some surf casting, with the kind of waves that break here. There is is a delight for early morning road runners, though the evenings has some marginal traffic and populace. But all in all, it's a deal, real and a steal. Despite being a local, I have stayed there myself with family, just to enjoy the ambience, facilities and the food. Only, the next time, my angling rod shall come along too!
