Very brief stay in a relatively non-tourist part of Kerala. If you are not visiting to see a Theyyam festival you are either lost or enjoy seeing real India.

The property is some 5 miles from the nearest town. Panoor and 15 miles from Telicherry the nearest railway station where we were met. A large bungalow surrounded by coconut groves and banana plantations. There are other larger houses along the road financed by remittances from the Gulf.

The bungalow has a large bedroom and two bathrooms. There is a spacious living room and a kitchen we used to make tea and toast. The main catering was done by Jisha and her mother who are skilled is the local cusine. We were welcomed warmly with cool drinks and banana fry which is delicious but not good for the waistline.

Jisha arranged a car tour of the area to the local forts, museums and countryside.

It was a fascinting view of Indian life. We were there for Diwali but unfortunately it's not much celebrated in Northern Kerala.
