Casa Inn Business Hotel Celaya Veleros
Ranked #11 of 24 Hotels in Celaya
Reviewed 9 June 2013

I travel to Celaya several times per year for work. This hotel is our standard corporate location, and although not entirely up to a US standard of stay, it does meet the basic needs nicely and without much inconvenience. There are no major US-based chains in Celaya (Casa Inn and the somewhat nearby Fiesta Inn are Mexican hotel chains).

The parking is not overly ample, but it does have some security provided with an outside staff who manually lifts and lowers the security gate for the parking lot at night. As I normally have a driver to and from the airport and plant, it doesn't factor to me too much, but I appreciate the extra security nonetheless.

When you come into the reception area, you will be met with helpful staff and a small-ish lobby area. You can have help with your luggage or handle it yourself, of course. The personnel at the reception desk are always friendly and helpful. I have found their English-language skills very adequate, with never a problem with understanding. They do a good job of providing adequate talent here. Reading some other reviews is puzzling, but I am a very experienced global traveler, and I suppose I might have more tolerance and a kinder ear for non-English speakers. The room rate is respectable, but expensive for what you might expect in Mexico.

Rooms are decently sized and comfortable. I find that beds are quite firm, but I like that. The pillow selection is poor in terms of variety in my opinion, but you will find that they have some very large and hard pillows which I think are completely useless for sleeping and some other smaller pillows which are somewhere in between foam and feather in terms of feel and thickness.

Cleanliness in the room is average and age is showing its toll. The furniture is decent and functional. The carpets are definitely showing age, as the last room I used had some definite wear and the throw rug next to my bed needed to be replaced badly. Corner rooms (ending in 01 or 17) are larger than interior rooms.

The bathroom is sufficiently large and the showers are decent in terms of pressure and hot water availability. Cleanliness is average, but the age and severe use of the equipment is showing. They need to de-calcify the shower heads and glass panels, as I sometimes get a bit of a creepy feeling when showering in them. Not to mention the needle-like piercing of the water from the shower. LOL!

Breakfast is decent with a fair buffet and a cook-to-order area which seems to rotate between omelets and pancakes. The only problem I have found with the omelet station is that the cook doesn't often speak very good English. Coffee is strong, but good. Japanese selection is interesting addition (see below). I find that the restaurant at night is below-average, but they have a bar and an outside patio which is good when the weather cooperates (which it almost always does).

Finally, the hotel is very often booked completely, and may be hard to reserve a room without advanced planning. This is because of the crazy expansion going on in and around Celaya, especially the Japanese and related companies. For this reason as well, you will find that there will be a lot of Japanese guests and that the breakfast buffet has a large Japanese section for you to choose from. It will seem unusual unless you know this ... it will be screaming at you when you walk in and find that 95% of the people at breakfast are orientals!

Modern hotel with simple but clean and quiet rooms. Friendly and English speaking reception desk staff. Convenient and guarded parking lot right in front of the hotel. Internet connection was not working too well.

Service is the best for this hotel. Most of the staffs can not speak English but they are trying. Breakfast is ok not the greatest! Small gym and pool but no one's there. Maid service is good, the bed is hard but I do like hard bed so its perfect for me.

Thanks again for Trip Advisor. We wanted to attend a performance at Celaya's Auditorio Francis Eduardo Tresguerras, Trip Advisor gave very good reviews of Casa Inn Business Celaya as #2 rated, and was a very short walk to the Auditorio. We were rewarded. The hotel was well run, with welcomes immediately upon arrival. The hotel is working hard to being "The" business hotel in Celaya. They have attuned their goal.

The rooms were as you would expect; very business like but just what we expect. The shower was great. And everything as as I expected.

Problems...Of course, with every very good report comes some unexpected problems. One of my pillows was stuffed with the remains of many other foam pillows that had fallen apart. Somewhat shocking for the presentation of the hotel. The other item was the bed sheets: they must have been a 100 thread count. It was like sleeping on hard washed linen sheets. So much for a glowing report about the beds. That would never happen. In the morning I took the pillow down to the reception desk and made sure they understood that this quality was not expected. I guess the only way the hotel can skimp in costs is to make the beds as unprofessional as possible. They will learn after a few, or many complaints.

The restaurant was very nice and moderately priced. Good coffee and a very nice buffet breakfast.

All in all very nice, but not perfect.

Service was top notch except for non speaking English personal. But I guess am in their country and I should learn it.

Maid service is great, morning breakfast ran about 150.00 pesos. Not the typical American breakfast but very good. Coffee out of this world.

Other then take just a typical hotel in my book or the Best Celaya can offer.

I travel to Celaya at least four times a year and always enjoy my stay at the Celaya Inn. The staff at the front desk are very welcoming, friendly and accomodating. There is always someone on staff who speaks English. The rooms are updated and clean. They have an on-site restaurant that offers room service. They are located very close (nice stroll) to a small shopping plaza with a SuperMarket and Shops. Perfect stop for the business traveler!

Arrived at the hotel today and had made reservations for a king size bed so that there would be plenty of room to set up my office/work area. The bellman took me to a room with two queen sizes beds. After a brief discussion, he came
Back with the room card to the JR suite with a view, sofa couch, plenty of work space and didnt charge me any more for it. Had lunch in the hotel and it was excellent! Free wifi for unlimited number of devices (iPhone, iPad, laptop) which made it easy to skype with work. Went to get a cab-- free shuttle.... Went to get a drink at the bar-- free complimentary drink... What more can you ask for in a business class hotel
