“LOVED IT”
Reviewed 22 July 2012

Charming café restaurant with excellent fresh produce and delightful service and ambiance in the heart of the medieval town.
The simple menu is in the style and quality of an English countryside GastroPub and the small but carefully chosen wine list reflects the excellent price-quality ratio. We hope to return.
There is nothing we did not like! What a shame for both locals and visitors, that they are only open for dinner on Saturdays.

“brilliant food, friendly staff, nice decor”
Reviewed 16 April 2012

We returned the next day for lunch at this restaurant, which says it all! We went with our three unruly, and picky children, and they were just wonderful, the waitress was incredibly patient, and keen for us to relax even though we had three kids with us ('you have time' she kept saying). The adult food was very delicious, and not standard traditional French. a delicious vegetable crumble with smoked cod, celery, and courgettes for me, and local lamb in a bake for my partner. the children had beautifully presented meals both times, set out on large plates. Unusually for my children they gobbled it up, and demolished the 'artisanal' Glaces afterwards. All this at very high standards was a comparable price to some of the other more old fashioned and slightly rough-around-the-edges restaurants we ate at in the same area, and comparable in price to a good lunch in a gastropub in London. The courtyard at the back was a lovely space, with great planting, and House Martens nesting too.

“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed 21 November 2011

We recognised this from having seen it on TA whilst we were wandering around the old part of Saint Valéry sur Somme, so as it was lunchtime we decided to give it a go. It was almost full but they found us a table and we enjoyed an excellent lunch. Upmarket, modern feel, certainly not your traditional French bistro. The menu reflects this, with a more modern menu, still very French but with an international twist. My husband had a platter with a small kebab of duck and grapes, a slice of rabbit terrine, some salad and a jacket potato (I said it had an international twist!). I had a gratin of carrots, celery, potatoes and shrips in a gorgeous creamy, herby sauce. The selection of desserts - a mix of traditional French favourites like tarte aux pommes and clafoutis, and Anglo-Saxon influenced cheesecake and fruit crumble - was most enticingly displayed.
Reasonably priced (€ 47 for 2 mains, 2 desserts, bottle of mineral water, 2 coffees), very well done and a pleasant location.
