“Nice food, shame about the staff ”
Reviewed 19 April 2014 via mobile

The set menu was varied & the kids menu had 4 choices of main. The food was very nice but the evening was tainted by a rude uncooperative waitress. My French language skills are limited but I can usually manage. After her 1st visit I explained that I only spoke a little French & asked her to speak a little slower, she never did & looked irritated when I couldn't understand her at full speed. Also, our table was only 4 feet from the 1 & only unisex toilet there which was a little unhygienic. With so much choice of places to eat in St Valery we would not return.

“Not as bad as depicted”
Reviewed 23 February 2014

On a brief vist to this charmng town we tried to get into other high ranking restaurants but they were closed (not high season) or turned us way at 1.50 as having finished serving lunch! As this was very near that restaurant we hastily made our way there. It was a basic lunch-that was what we wanted, with moules being what we were after. We found the 17 euro menu very pleasant and certainly the French in there were having a great time with their fruit de mers! We had no problem with service and they were quite happy for us to stay. Having been thrown out of the other place we were pleased to be treated so well!

“Restaurant to avoid”
Reviewed 17 November 2013 via mobile

Had Sunday lunch here. Looks nice from the outside. Ficelle picarde was "off" as was croustillant au maroilles; croustillant au chèvre, however, was available... and came with a bit of salad. Émincés de bœuf "à point" in sauce au maroilles were lumps of "saignant" beef in sauce served, for no obvious reason, in a little ceramic pot. The pot was cold and the contents were just warm. The dish came with chips but no vegetables. The list of desserts was ridiculously long but everything was just your standard chiller cabinet/ freezer stuff. Service was slow but there seemed to be plenty of staff working. There are better restaurants in Saint-Valéry. I won't be back.

“Don't understand some of these reviews”
Reviewed 28 October 2013

We ate there on 2 nights at the end of September and both times the food was very good the service was not rushed and very friendly - we had 2 enjoyable evenings there - would recommend it. Don't listen to others judge for yourself.. Had the sea bass and salmon ravioli one night couldn't fault it. The Chablis was excellent (so was the Mojito!).

“Altogether a Very Average Package”
Reviewed 19 October 2013

Full marks to Le Drakkar for being one of very few restaurants open in St Valey on a very wet Monday lunchtime on October. However, overcooked whelks and clams in the seafood starter, a cream jug with a broken off handle to accompany the coffee and over anxious staff to hurry our exit along, all served to convince us not to return.
