“Great location”
Reviewed 13 September 2017 for a stay in August 2017

We visit St Valery every summer , so knew what to expect and we always have a great time. However, due to the ferry, we were late arriving...tired and hungry we picked up the keys from a local cafe. On arrival to the property we were pleased at how large it was. The property was not very clean and the first thing I had to do was clean all 3 toilets ...faecall matter and hairs.
We hired bedlinen and towels at a cost of €20. ...waste of money as old and tired bed sheets and 2 small bath towel, we ended up using our beach towels anyway.
The house is jam packed with ornaments and breakables ...could do with being minimised and given a spring clean.
All this being said, the location of the house is fantastic and the beds were surprisingly comfertable....we had a good week.
The property is fairly priced.

Our family had a good holiday in a good location. The House has good level of comfort and facilities very close to St Valery.

“Quirky french charm”
Reviewed 20 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

I booked La Valerianne as I had read good reviews on St Valery and wanted somewhere not too far from Theipval, so that my husband could revisit his grandfather's war grave, along with our daughters and their husbands.
The house smelt very musty on arrival, and seemed a little dark, but we assumed no one had stayed for a while, and after spraying air freshener, it improved. However beyond the first investigations, we didn't venture downstairs or up to the top floor again.
We found the house really comfortable and cosy, especially after lighting a fire, and the beds, which look a bit antiquated were surprisingly comfortable too and we all slept like logs. There was a constant supply of hot water, even with six people showering.
There isn't a straight wall or floor in the house, adding to it's charm, and especially on the landing, we felt drunk without being so!
We did find the spiral staircase was in the way, blocking one entrance to the kitchen and it was easy to bang your head if not careful. The other staircase is also very narrow and steep, so taking cases upstairs was not the easiest.
The house is beautifully situated close to the very picturesque old town, but only a short, and very pretty walk, along the river to the center of the town with it's variety of restaurants.
On Sundays a very colourful market, selling all manner of things plus edible delights is set up all along the pathway running alongside the river, to the square in the town.
We enjoyed some good dinners locally, and a really lazy Sunday lunch after our stroll around the market. We lunched at La Terrace, and had to wait almost an hour as there were six of us,but it was worth the wait and the mussels went down well! We then wandered around the old town where there's an arch reputed to have been passed under by Joan of Arc.. The church us also worth a visit and the views from up there are lovely.
We planned to take the little train over to Le Crotoy but ran out of time. In summer it also runs to Cayeux sur mer.
We loved St Valery, and La Valerianne really grew on us. However it was the first rental I have ever booked that had virtually no toilet paper on arrival!! Be aware! Fortunately there is a Carrefour just as you enter the town from the direction of Le Crotoy.
A charming house, full of character, but a shame that parking, although very conveniently right outside,is expensive at 10€ a day! although apparently a cheaper pass can be bought at the town hall for longer stays.

Love the town, despite the amount of doggy-do that seems to be every where, restaurants all very nice. The house is perfectly located, parking is not an issue. There has been some changes since last year - now has WIFI and basement has now been modified, fantastic news. Beds do need updating however. Have never noticed the noise from the street and has never been a problem. The house itself is lovely, open planned ground floor and big enough for all of us 6 adults, 4 children and a baby. The French are very friendly and would recommend a stay here.

Just a few words to say what a great time we had.
The house was spacious and again we found the house very clean.
We had friends who had recommended the property as it is close to the sea and shops/restaurants, and the house itself is truly a little gem, a little quirky in that French style that we love.
Because it is so spacious; it was peace for us girls. The children took over the top floor as their den, while the men enjoyed the table football in the cellar area, and for us a well equipped kitchen with bottle opener,
we'll be back probably in June 2015, as the owner is undertaking a revamp, which we hope still keeps that old fashioned charm.

Saint valery is lovely. House less so. Very unclean, old and equipment really out of date. The house gives on to a very busy main road, no double glazing just imagine the noise day and night. The state of the bathrooms is far from welcoming. No wifi, no parking. A general impression if old and unclean. Beds could do with a change. Very disappointing.

“lovely mediaeval town”
Reviewed 26 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We stopped off in St Valery on our way to the south, and what a little gem we found. This old fishing port has everything, as is only just an hour from Calais and is full of lovely little shops and restaurants, at least now my sons knows where William the Conqueror left form !
St Valery really had everything we wanted and the house was perfect, lots of space and beautifully furnished and so close to the seafront.
Even though this is quite a big house the reduced pricing for smaller parties suited our budget as there were only four of us, though we lost the men every night to the table football in the celler ( world cup fever!)
We are thinking of coming back at christmas as we think this will be perfect for our family get together and the Kids loved it
