Thank G0d the Summerhouse in lovely Lismore has not fallen victim to the unfortunate economic circumstances that seem to threaten many great quality eateries these days. The home shop which was part of the restaurant is not gone but the food aspect to this business has not suffered at all.
We ate there in November, glad to walk into it's warmth (provided by large roaring fire), Lunch service begins at 12:30pm.
The menu is small but varied, offering a selection of delicious hand made sandwiches and hot dishes.
We had the toasted brie and cranberry sandwich and the Chicken Satay sandwich, both with salad. We also ordered a side of hand cut fried potatoes (plenty for two in one portion).
This was accompanied by a glass each of white wine.
Afterwards, I was unable to resist one of their great coffees and a tempting cupcake to accompany.
Service is not 'fast food', but it is not slow. Staff are lovely and this place is a real treat when you are in the Lismore area of County Waterford.
I highly recommend it to you.
