“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed 30 July 2014

The wall plaques and memorials trace the history of the often powerful Protestant families from the area and the often sad fate of their descendents. India, South Africa, the Great War, marking their final resting place. Others succumbing to drowning and disease a fascinating history every bit a part of Ireland's past. There was also interesting displays covering the famine, using written sources from the time. A very interesting and enjoyable visit.

“Stunning Medieval Cathedral”
Reviewed 12 July 2014

This is an amazing building right in the heart of beautiful Lismore. To find it all you have to do is just walk through the town and you will find it easily enough. The interior is stunning and we are fortunate to still have it.

“Excellent Historical St. Cathage's Cathedral”
Reviewed 19 May 2014

This is one of my favorite churches to visit in Ireland. Steeped in history the church as a peaceful feeling and has some interesting graves to see. The town of Lismore is easily walked from Lismore Castle to the other end where this cathedral is located.

“Elegant Beauty”
Reviewed 3 October 2013

This is a lovely cathedral that displays beautiful stained glass and very interesting ceiling work. Nicely kept and open to the public. The adjoining cemetery, still in use today, also tells a story in it's headstones and names.

“A most wonderful place”
Reviewed 30 September 2013

My husband and I came upon St. Carthage's Cathedral while walking around Lismore. It is a truly wonderful place to visit. Some cathedrals can be quite large but this one is in my opinion small but full of history and wonderful plaques of all types erected in the memory of various people. We spent a long time in there as the place and atmosphere there is so captivating.
Definitely worth a visit.
