We didn't stay here but it is memorable for the bar food we had there, which was a bizarre combination of delicious and horrible. It's a quaint location, a very old building (claims to be the first purpose built hotel in Ireland) which seems well maintained though we didn't see the rooms. We had an auspicious start with a delicious mushroom soup and even more delicious home made brown bread. Then we had a toasted sandwich which purported to contain chicken, cheese, onion, tomato and I think, ham. This is the worst toasted sandwich I have ever had. As an indication, we couldn't tell the chicken from the ham. It all appeared to have been thrown together some time ago and possibly frozen. It was unevenly cooked in a panini toaster and was part overdone, part underdone. Service was very pleasant. This place can clearly do better.

My husband and I stayed here for 1 night. Our initial reaction to the foyer was less than impressive. The corridors leading to our room appeared grotty and the carpets seemed in need of a good wash. We were allocated a room on the first floor to the front of the hotel. This was a disaster as the noise from the music in the bar kept us awake for hours. Add to that the laughter, shouting and general noise from the seating area directly beneath our window and a sleepless night was assured. The breakfast was good but tiredness due to lack of sleep meant that we were unable to appreciate all that Lismore undoubtedly has to offer.

Room Tip: Perhaps rooms to the back of the hotel are quieter.

I stayed at the Lismore House Hotel recently. 2nd time there & it's great value. The rooms are large, spacious & clean. The staff are friendly & helpful. Lismore is a great town..well worth a visit.
There are great options for cycling & walking in the local area. The food in the hotel is OK. Nothing to write home about but perfectly adequete.

booked this hotel to attend a family funeral in the area, paid more for the room then i expected for one night, however beggers cant be choosers, on arrival, the receptionist was very helpful and friendly, overall, the staff of the hotel were nice, however it was a very cold night and the radiators in the room were not working, however they left an electric heater in the room of which helped to keep the room warm.the shower was very complex to operate and then all you got was either cold or warm as you were showering. as we stayed on a saturday night, when we came back to the hotel, there was a 21st birthday party in full swing, we tried to have a drink in the bar but there were a few people very drunk falling around and spilling drink everywhere. then between 2am and 4am in the morning, we were awoken to lots of noise as everybody was leaving the bar and moving onto the streets, there was a fight outside and people shouting, our room was situated on the front of the hotel overlooking the street and this kept us awake for ages. not very nice when you have a funeral to attend the next morning, the breakfast in the morning was nice however the coffee was not as strong as i would have liked it to be considering that i was still half a sleep.

Room Tip: choose a room facing the carpark on weekend stays

This hotel was booked for one night and I was I don't know what I was expecting but the hotel exceeded my expectations. The checkin was very good. Enjoyed some soup in the bar before heading to the room. Food was very good. Room was large clean and was ideal for the one night stay. Enjoy the stay at the Lismore House. Would recommend and would stay again.

Was on a family get together in Lismore and ended up having a lovely meal here. They also catered for Coeliacs which was even better. It is fairly hard to get gluten free chips when eating out so it was a big bonus to get them here. Had the early bird menu and it was delicious.

We booked a double room in Lismore House Hotel for 15th Sept last July as we are attending a wedding nearby. We have our credit card number by phone. A few days before the event we got a phone call to say that we were being moved to a guest house and that they could not accomodate us - we got no reasonable explanation and the response to our letter of complaint was very off hand - beware - a booking is only a booking as long as it suits the Lismore House Hotel
