Four of us stayed in the new Lismore House Hotel in August 2007. We are already well-sold on the beauty of Lismore, and are frequent visitors, and so were delighted to hear their was a new hotel in the village.
Whilst the refurbishment of the building has been very nicely done, the hotel feels like it is not finished. Examples: No sign-posting around the doors - and the layout is extremely confusing, as it is an old building. The keycard system on both rooms was defective and problematic, and the beeping was very annoying and no doubt disruptive to other guests! These are small things that seem to have been neglected.
In terms of the service levels, whilst the staff are very friendly, they appear to be untrained, which is a cardinal sin. For example: Our table for breakfast was not set. The waitress did not ask how our eggs were to be done, nor did she offer tea / coffee. The toast and tea arrived about 20 minutes after the breakfast, etc. etc. And this pretty much happened on both mornings we were there!
OVERALL - Must try harder! They should be over-delivering at this early stage, rather than underdelivering!
