Our family of four visited Palazzo Fiumi for six days in June and knew instantly that it would be the most memorable part of our trip. Michael is a wonderful host and graciously shared his love of art, cooking and the sites of Umbria with us. He prepared a fabulous vegetarian meal for our arrival and suggested wonderful food shops and gelato joints to visit in every city we visited in Umbria. We’re still preparing the Italian dishes he introduced to us and reliving our vacation with every bite. Michael also helped us chart our day trips, highlighting towns, churches and museums that we would have never found on our own, and took us on several outings to make our visit complete. Our common refrain became “we’ll have to ask Michael,” and we knew we would get a history and culture lesson with each answer. The best part of exploring Umbria was coming “home” to our apartment every evening. The two-bedroom apartment was spacious, fully equipped for cooking and beautifully restored, furnished and maintained. We feel so lucky to have found Palazzo Fiumi and the very special town of Bettona. It’s the kind of place you’ll want all your best friends to visit.
