We went out of season in 2012 so the hotel was very quiet, which was fine with us.

We had a great stay - food is very good, rooms are great, pools are magnificent. The beach has a large tidal range so at low tide it is about 1 km out. Nungwi has better beaches but I preferred this hotel overall to the one I stayed at in Nungwi.

A really beautiful resort, in a stunning setting. You won't be disappointed. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are all air conditioned, but the restaurant area isn't. We didn't mind this at all because you get used to the heat quite quickly, but it may be a consideration for some people. The wifi is a bit unpredictable, but you are there to relax so this didn't matter much to us either. The rooms are sprayed every evening with mosquito repellant and all the beds have mosquito nets. The all inclusive option is great- there is a very wide variety of food and drinks available all the time. There is also a travel office on site to assist with any day tours. Our tours were all very well organised and I would highly recommend paying them a visit.

Best parts:
Swim up bar in the pool.
Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff.
Delicious food.
Clean, comfortable, spacious rooms.
Beautiful setting.
Great cocktails.
Day tour office on site.

Only negatives:
The bathrooms are not very private which can be a bit awkward if you are not there in a couple.
Make sure to get one of the front rooms as the back rooms are quite a walk from the beach and restaurant.
There are people trying to sell you stuff whenever you go for a walk on the beach, and they don't take no for an answer. The hotel's security makes sure they don't bother you until you step off the hotel property, but them constantly being there can get annoying.

The negatives are very easily overlooked and we would go back there in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Try to get a room close to the pool as the back rooms are quite a far walk.

mainly targeting couples. Even the rooms, which were super nice but the bathrooms are kinda awkward. The food was great, however we got bored pretty quickly as it is pretty isolated. The last time I came to Zanzibar, I stayed in Nungwi which has a much nicer beach in my opinion.

The positives:
beautiful rooms and grounds
amazing spa
great food

The negatives:
no wifi in rooms or pool area, only in lobby and you have to pay an arm and a leg for it.
the beach boys trying to sell you stuff, they just stand there right at the edge of the property selling everything from cigarettes to tours and it gets old quick when you are just trying to relax and enjoy the view
the entertainment program was quite boring and there isnt much to do in the area

Room Tip: definitely ask for a room by the pool as the other rooms are up the hill, quite a trek if you are dr...

Everything about our holiday was awesome. We stayed in the Neptunes Pwani Beach Resort and it was absolutely amazing! I highly recommend it to anybody – young and old! It was spotless and the staff were super friendly and very very attentive! We took a walk down the beach to the other hotels (3* and 4*) and can honestly say that if had the choice to choose all over again, I would stick to Neptunes – it was THAT good! The hotel also has a spa with a gorgeous setting. And has some of the biggest pools in Zanzibar with a gorgeous beach setting!

The beach boys are also not nearly as bad as everybody makes them out to be. They are all super friendly and also know when to leave you alone and not to push.

If you’re thinking about doing excursions – Safari Blue is really nice and a Sunset Cruise at Nungwi beach is an absolute MUST – go early and go spend the day there! It’s a gorgeous beach and very rustic but festive! There are a few café’s there that have happy hour and the food is good and very well priced! If you’re young (at heart ;-p), arrange for the driver to take you there around lunch time and bring you back around 11pm. You’re going to want to stay and party on the beach after your cruise.. Nungwi beach is like a little piece of Heaven..
If you’re keen on snorkeling, make sure you get one of the beach boys to take you the island (45min boat ride from Neptunes Hotel) – its unreal!

Zanzibar exceeded all of our expectations (by far!) and we plan on returning again next year..

We booked our holiday to Zanzibar through Joshua from Explore East Africa (great service and highly recommended!)

If you’re thinking about going to Zanzibar – DO IT! You will NOT regret it!

The good things about the resort:
--------------------------------------------------
- Great setting, open air and nice facilities. We didnt find anything to be broken or out of order etc.
- Everything was nice and clean, and the rooms were nicely furnished. The rooms include mosquito nets.
- The all-inclusive option is great, especially for those long days at the pool bar.
- Oh yes, there is a bar in the pool. This is a serious win.
- A good and knowledgeable travel centre is located on the hotel premises, and they can advise you about all the day trips.
- Long white sandy beaches for great walks
- The bar is well stocked, and you can get pretty much anything you want included on the all-in option.

Important things to be aware of:
---------------------------------------------
- If you want to snorkel in the sea, this is not the spot for you. The sea receeds about 2 km when at low tide, and is so damn hot in the shallow water that not much lives there.
- The dining room is not air-conditioned, its open air. Pretty much all the facilities are open air, with the exception of your actual room. If you want cool dining rooms etc, this isnt the spot for you. We think that the heat and the open air feeling adds to the authenticity of the experience, but grant that its not for everyone.
- The travel centre, whilst very helpful, is pretty expensive. If you can make buddies with one of the guides on day 1, you can do many trips at a fraction of the hotel price.
- Some of the rooms are "ocean view" but are miles up the hill (the hotels grounds are pretty substantial). Ask for a room "next to the pool" to make sure you arent tucked away up the hill.

All in all, we loved this spot. We went on honeymoon, and the place was fantastic. Also, I feel its great value for money.

We stayed here for 4 ngihts in September 2013. The staff were incredibly friendly, we loved all the restaurants and thought the food was really good. Every guest gets one meal at the pizza restaurant which I would recommend as a bit of a change but book in advance as it gets busy. The all inclusve cocktails are really nice and there is a good variety though they don't serve them at the swim-up bar which is a bit of a shame. The entertainment staff are very friendly, I would definitely recommend some of their activities. We also had a meal at the a la carte restaurant which was offered to us as we were on our honeymoon, the meal was wonderful though perhaps a little expensive if you were paying for it yourself. We didn't really find the beach boys a problem, if you don't want to talk to them just say that you would like to be left along right from the beginning and don't start a converstaion with them, they will then leave you alone. We went on the beach every day and spent quite a lot of time on the sand bank though look out for sea erchins when you are walking through the shallow water.

Super hotel eith two large pools one with swim up bar. There are plenty of sun loungers on the beachfront. The sea view is stunning. Walking on the beach is great among the pools and sandy spits.
Rooms were spacious and each with a large balcony. They were well cleaned and each has a fridge with soft drinks restocked every day.
Food was very good and good variety. There is a sprciality pizza restaurant. Bar has a good atmosphere. There is evening entertainment each night of a band or dancing.
There are also regular daytime activities from volleyball to the beach or village walk.
