I'm daydreaming on a train home from London Bridge about our trip to France last week.
Cottages de Garrigue was so good last year we just had to go back.
This time we stayed in the cottage closest to the pool. It was just as georgoeus and stylish as the cottage we had last year with comfortable beds and great showers (loved the constant hot water). In fact we had all the facilities we could wish for...and of course it was spotlessly clean with complimentary towels for the bathroom and the pool.
This year we even stocked up at a great store and then cooked 'at home' one evening on our private terrace overlooking the garden. We did of course eat out a few times as well. There is so much choice in the local town/village. Although,
to be honest, I'd have been happy just wandering around the grounds, sitting by the pool, eating the local cheese, drinking the local wine and perhaps challenging someone to a game of ping-pong in the barn every so often!
Andy and Neil are the perfect hosts. They have certainly been hard at work since our last visit. They have managed to keep up every little standard whilst also bringing on a third cottage which I think you can now book.
One extra thing I noticed is the fabulous pool now has a cover at night and there is a new decked area with loungers and more interesting plants. So beautiful. I could go on but my train is pulling into Richmond starion and I have to stop daydreaming and get off!
Our hosts Andy and Neil have managed to create
We stayed for long weekend with another couple in one of the beautifully restored Gites. Every little detail has been thought through from the furnishings, well equipped kitchen to very comfortable beds with lovely bed linen. I slept like a log! The outside space and grounds were immaculate and the pool and decking looked devine (sadly too cold for a dip!). Andy and Neil were amazing hosts; helpful, thoughtful and good fun. There is so much to do in this beautiful region too. Can’t wait to come back and make use of the pool, oh and have some more wine! Thanks Neil and Andy xx
You immediately feel like you have arrived at a family members home (one you like) as you are greeted by Andy and Neil on your arrival. The building is amazing and has been very thoughtfully and beautifully renovated . The Gites are extremely contemporary and modern whilst being comfortable and an easy place to relax, with every last detail considered.
The surroundings are tranquil and easy going. The places to visit around and about are up to you and if it’s the quiet, slow paced French Life that you are looking for then you are in the right spot.
Ask Andy and Neil to direct you to the place that does the workman’s lunch (can’t remember the name). It’s amazing food for an unbelievable price.
If you get a chance visit Eymet, eat at the restaurants, drink at Le Pub and wander round. It’s all lovely.
So, in summary, book now, don’t leave it any longer, don’t waste time reading other reviews, don’t dither, don’t run it passed your other half. Book now as a surprise and prove what a decisive person you are.
But DON’T fill the place up for our next visit!
I had the most wonderful stay at this stunning place, and think I have left a little piece of my heart in France.
The accommodation, setting and atmosphere was exactly what I wanted from my break.
The gites have been beautifully restored but are modern and comfortable at the same time, and everything you could need is provided. High end bedding and lovely products always get a big tick from me.
The location is perfect; tranquil and away from the noise of modern life, but a very short distance from the lovely Eymet if you want restaurants and shops (plenty to chose from).
The garden is beautiful, and the pool area is a little sun trap if you want to lounge around and relax.
The welcome we received from Andy and Neil was wonderful, and there were some lovely treats in the fridge to get us into the French spirit! Andy and Neil are there if you want company (and I would strongly advise that you get to know them, they’re fab), but are discreet enough to leave you to relax and do your own thing; perfect hosts!
Overall I highly rate Cottages De Garrigue, and will undoubtedly return on an annual basis; it is the most perfect spot to unwind.
Neil and Andy are the most attentive hosts, and nothing is too much trouble for them. They have beautifully renovated their gîtes to a high standard, providing everything you might require for your stay. The swimming pool looks great with plenty of room although a bit too chilly for us at the end of October, despite the beautiful unseasonal weather. The gîtes are surrounded by wonderful countryside and walks but still within good striking distance of towns like Eymet and Duras. We would definitely recommend Cottages de Garrigue to family and friends, and we lwill definitely return. Thank you boys for a great stay Peter and Sarah xx
Cottages de Garrigue is a wonderful place to stay, close to lots of great walks, vineyards and Bastide towns. Neil and Andy are excellent hosts, always going the extra mile for us.
We picked up lots of tips on what to do and where to visit from their local knowledge, including the market in Eymet on a Thursday morning and canoeing from a small place in Gardonne.
Our cottage was very well equipped (it literally had everything) and stylishly decorated. The welcome pack, including food essentials, a bottle of wine and tasty jam from next door were all lovely touches (even had some soya milk waiting for me!)
The pool was well kept, the grounds secluded and our cottage very clean. It was just the restful break that we needed. Would stay again. Thanks for a great time guys.
We stayed here for 4 days during August with our family (2 children aged 7 and 5), and what a lovely place it is. The cottage we stayed in was beautifully renovated in keeping with the properties character, yet stylish and comfortable. The pool area, which kept our kids entertained for hours on end, was large, clean and in a lovely setting surrounded by the properties extensive, and well maintained grounds.
Location wise it is a stones thrown from Bergerac airport, and an easy drive from the north ports, and situated close to Eymet, a lively little town with plenty of good places to eat and drink. We were lucky enough to be staying when the wine and oyster festival was on, and the town had a great party atmosphere – live music, local food and wine – there was something for all ages.
What really made our holiday though was the attentiveness (though not over bearing!) of the cottages owners Neil and Andy. They were always on hand to answer questions, or advise on where to go for a day out. We had a great trip to a nearby vineyard (Chateau Lestevenie), on their recommendation, and spent a fabulous 3 hours learning about the production of their wine, followed by the obligatory wine tasting, needless to say we didn’t leave empty handed! So all in all a great place to stay and we are looking forward to returning to see result of the renovations of the remaining cottages!
