The two of us stayed in one of the cabins for several days during the July 4th celebration. The cabin appeared recently constructed and was beautifully furnished. It had a large deck surrounded by trees. The birds would visit us on the deck and actually eat right out of our hands!

It had been 30 years since we last visited McCarthy and we wanted to stay somewhere special. We could not have been more pleased with Currant Ridge Cabins. The cabins are very comfortable and homey. Andy & Cynthia have done a beautiful job. The owners, Andy & Cynthia seem to have thought of everything and the guest cabins have high quality furnishings including the towels, bedding, grill & kitchenware. Over the years we've stayed in a lot of guest cabins in Alaska and Currant Ridge tops our list. If only the weather had been a little drier we could have enjoyed the lovely deck too!
We'd highly recommend Currant Ridge and definitely will stay there again when we get back to the area.

Our family of four stayed here in August. The photos of the cabins really don't do them justice. Our cabin was spacious, spotless and comfortable. The deck out back was very pleasant. We had all of the basics to make a quick breakfast in the cabin and be on our way. The setting is perfect and quiet. Tanya at the front desk was super nice and helpful. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

My boys and I went for a weekend trip to McCarthy and stayed here. The cabin was spacious, beautiful, and super clean. Ours was equipped with a full kitchen and everything you would need to be right at home. There was a gorgeous deck with a grill and table to eat. The Shidner's have an amazing home and garden and are super hosts. I highly recommend staying with them if you head to McCarthy.

We stayed at Currant Ridge over the 4th of July, and we could easily have stayed forever. The cabin, referred to as guest houses by the owners, was PERFECT. Spotlessly clean, beautifully appointed, spacious, and by far the best bet for our money in the McCarthy / Kennecott area. We have been staying in this area for many years, and Currant Ridge is BY FAR the most comfortable spot. The full kitchen, huge bathroom, and lovely deck can't be found anywhere else in the area...and the setting is simply magical. HIGHLY recommended!

Room Tip: Note that the cabins are meant to be places to get away ... so there is no wifi and no TV. Who needs...

Wow. Very nicely appointed cabin! All the cooking amenities You could ask for short of a microwave, We made meals both days and found everything we needed from new pots and pans, strainers, cutting boards, paper towels, dish towels and even a workable corkscrew. Very easy to navigate and create flawless meals. The large refrigerator held all our groceries and the freezer preserved our ice as well. The new dishes and glasses were also well chosen and colorful.

The separate bedroom has a large, comfy bed. Nice to close off the door to prevent the midnight sun from penetrating the bedroom. The living room/kitchen has comfortable chairs/sofa and is a great place to entertain. We had 2 adults and 1 young child join the 2 of us for socializing/meals and found the room to be spacious for games and for eating at the dining table. The sofa is just right for a young child to nap on!

Our hosts were kind and attentive and provided us with information and freshly roasted beets from the garden (they are friends of our Alaska hosts).

If You are headed to McCarthy or to the Kennicot Mine, the road in can really beat You up. Can't say enough about the comfort afforded by staying in a first class accommodation after experiencing that road. Definitely well worth seeking out and enjoying!

Room Tip: Cabins are far enough apart that it feels as if You are the only guests.

These cabins are fantastic! We booked here hoping to stay with our in-laws, but wound up being just me, my husband, and our baby. It was a little too much cabin for just the 3 of us, but we enjoyed it anyway. :) Spacious living room/kitchen/dining area with sleeper couch, along with big bathroom and cozy bedroom. Everything we needed was there, with the possible exception of the coffee maker which I couldn't find and wound up not needing anyway since we were out of the house early for McCarthy awesomeness every morning. The staff was friendly and helpful while booking and checking in, answering our questions and giving us suggestions for things to do and see. Very laid-back kind of place. Plenty of hot water for showers after long days hiking and having fun. Everything was very clean and attractive, and the focus on environmentally friendly living was nice in such a gorgeous location. We really enjoyed this place and wouldn't hesitate to go back or recommend it! We thought the price was also really competitive based on the size and quality of the place. Also, even though they are "off the grid," we had fabulous 4G service from Verizon to send pictures to all our friends and family and make them jealous! :) Definitely stay here!
