After driving up from the Limosin area needing a place to stay the night before our tunnel crossing we chanced upon La Ferme du Vert. Tired from the journey I would say our welcome was average, but that opinion maybe down to how tired we were perhaps and/or that other welcomes we'd had at 3 previous hotels were much better, so this came 4th in this catagory. We were shown to a large room and separate bathroom, nicely laid out, spacious and clean possibly a little pricey in comparison compared to what we've experienced so far so again 4th in catagory. Limited English speaking TV, but we're in France after all! We wanted to see Bolougne Sur Mere so declined an evening meal and away early for the tunnel, therefore we cannot comment on the food, but at €14.50 per person for breakfast I would suggest the price is excessive compared to our previous experiences. We were greeted well with advice when we returned from Boulogne that evening thank you, incidentally where we ate quite substantially for far less. Retiring turned out to be difficult due to collective raised voices eminating from downstairs. When finally waking in the morning we noticed no tea or coffee making facilities in the room so that was dissapointing, however when collecting the car there were no parking fees that I'd had to pay for at 1 of the other hotels. I would conclude by saying that overall I was not dissatisfied, but from our own experience on this particular trip to France I would place La Ferme du Vert 4th overall in value for money.

We have been staying here for nearly 20 years and very little has changed other than bedroom refurbishments and the restaurant menu- what’s better than that!

Ferme Du Vert was therefore an easy choice to celebrate our Ruby Wedding Anniversary, with our two daughters their partners and two young grand children.

We arrived last Saturday afternoon in glorious hot sunshine, after dropping off the luggage in our superb bedroom, we all met up in the courtyard for a drink, as usual it was very peaceful.

Our evening meal was a delight and always the highlight of our visit, prior to our visit, I asked Thomas Bernard, the Owner for something relatively simple for our grandchildren. The food and service was exceptional and faultless and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their particular choice. Ferme Du Vert offers a very good cheese selection provided by the local cheese manufacturer owned by Thomas Bernard’s brother, and anyone who like cheese will not be disappointed.

The following morning we enjoyed the traditional Ferme Du Vert breakfast , you are spoilt with a very good choice from cereals, eggs, croissants, pain au chocolate, cheese, ham,French bread and various jams etc, followed by decent good coffee.

Needless to say, Ferme Du Vert remains our top choice when ever we visit France irrespective of where we are travelling, we will always make an allowance for a few days stopover or a weekend visit.

Thomas is supported by Sylvie, who will make your visit memorable by polite and attentive service, nothing is too much trouble. I have not yet had the opportunity to meet the Chef, who provides quality and interesting food which will dance on your taste buds.

Give yourself a treat when visiting this part of France 20 minutes south of Calais located in the secluded countryside.

Room tip: Each rooms is good- we have stayed in most of them

Access through a narrow rod among fields, very quiet environment, large rooms with old beams supporting the ceiling. Very comfortable bed and large bathroom. Service very friendly, large parking across the road. excellent breakfast served in nice, bright room next to small reception. If you stay there you cannot miss dinner in their restaurant - reviewed separately.

We stayed here for two nights last week on our way home from holiday. It was about our fifth visit and we were not disappointed. We were warmly greeted on arrival and our room was beautiful. We had half board and the food was excellent. We had oysters, fish and a beautiful chocolate desert. Wine was reasonably priced. The one we chose was €18 and was excellent. There is a Michelin sign up for 2018, which I assume means the restaurant is mentioned in the Michelin guide? Thanks very much, we will return.

Planning trips to Christmas Markets in Europe, we always stop over at this charming farm enroute home. Situated in a secluded area yet in easy reach of the channel ports, this B&B is exceptional. Luxury accommodation, first class food and a huge friendly welcome from Thomas and his Team. The standards are set high and the family cheese business next door is second to done. An oasis of calm, Ferme du Vert offers traditional food and the breakfast is second to none. Always sorry to leave.
