In the summer months the local dolphin school can be seen from the ramparts. The Museum covers three floors of Fort George's former Lieutenant Governors' House. Following an visit to Culloden this was a good visit to see the result of what followed the battle in order to suppress the Jacobites.
A very good visit to a historic site which is still an active army base.
Information on army life in the past is informative and quite shocking at times by telling you what life was like for the ordinary soldiers.
The regimental museum, which was recently refurbished, is excellent with many fine artifacs.

Thank Charles H

Fort George has special significance for me since my grandfather was once stationed there. The grounds of the fort are huge, and the structure itself is very impressive. The setting by the sea is also quite beautiful, although be prepared for it to be very windy and cold, depending on when you go. Make sure to visit the Regimental Museum which is fascinating in and of itself.

Lots of walking, very interesting, fantastic day out. Good disabled access and brilliant views of the moray firth. As well as seeing the Fort, we also managed to get a great view of the Dolphins.

Spent a good few hours here, very informative and interesting. Good disabled access too. Maybe not so good for kids as it would be quite difficult to hold their attention if they are quite young

Visited for the first time but will definately go back. Fort George is just outside Inverness and is a working Fort. The museums are superb with several floors of exhibtions. Very reasonable entrance fee. Takes about three hours and you can see the dolphins from the ramparts. Well worth a visit.
