They were painting the hotel just outside our room and balcony, so we lived in a dark room alle 10 days. We booked the hotel in february and in august 4 days before our stay there we got the information about the painting. At check out we told the receptionist that we were unsatisfied that we could not use the balcony. She told us that if we had complained maybe they could have given us other rooms. If they had other rooms, why did they not give us the better rooms from the beginning or tel us that it was possible to change. That is bad service. She also told us that we could have cancelled our reservation but where could we be sure to find another hotel with just 4 days notice in high season. The rooms were ok size but bed was to hard. Breakfast was ok but be there early. From 9 an forward it was very busy and emty plates in the buffet.

Weekend away

Stayed here for 2 nights, great service before we even got there off Raphael, full credit for his help and advice. Lovely hotel in a great spot, close to beach, shops, train, across the road is s square with some nice cafes etc, all very reasonable? The hotel is clean, friendly, and a definite re-visit is on the agenda! Like to mention filipe on reception also, really polite and friendly young man! Keep up the good work Filipe! Just one note, the pool shot on the website isn’t the truth it’s a lot smaller in real life, no biggy really!

Life saver

We had booked an Airbnb only to discover we hadn't been left a key. It was midnight at this point and we couldn't contact the owners. After several taxis and trawling the streets for 2 hours trying to find accommodation we arrived at Hotel Riviera. We were greeted by Nino Baptista who couldn't do enough for us. He spent ages ringing round hotels trying to find us some accommodation for the night. Unfortunately everything was booked up. He kindly allowed my husband and I to remain in the lobby overnight. Had it not have been for his kindness and generosity we would have been on the streets. If that wasn't enough, in the morning he invited us to take breakfast. We can't thank Nuno enough for being so kind. He made a dreadful start to our holiday a lot more bearable. Thank you so much. By the way, breakfast was great

A couple of nights and happy

Good location, about a 10 minute walk to the beach and the hotel has its own limited parking for about €9 per day. There is a small shopping mall next door (with cashpoint) and a nice selection of restaurants within a couple of minutes walk.
Rooms were clean and tidy, free Wi-fi was sufficient, shower good and air conditioning worked well. Well proportioned rooms. The staff were very helpful and excellent throughout visit and buffet breakfast was very good. There is a good sized pool and a spa but I didn’t use either of these facilities. Would happily return.

Tired but adequate

I stayed here for five nights for business in October 2018.

My hosts said they'd called ahead to the hotel to let them know I'd be arriving early. I barely slept on the red-eye and arrived exhausted around 10:30 a.m. Had to wait in the lobby until my room was available, after 2 p.m.

The rooms are spartan and a little worn. Few sheets, hard bed. I was barely warm enough. In fine European tradition, no wash cloths, but you get a bidet.

The breakfast is okay, not great.

Wifi decent.

Hotel overall is rather conveniently located, since close to lots of cafes and connected to a small mall with a pharmacy. It's also <10 min walk from the local train station.

Definitely wouldn't stay here for a vacation, but works for a short trip.
