The hotel is set in beautiful grounds next to a Disney type chateau.the food in the main restaurant was delicious and well presented by good staff overlooking a lake, for a more casual dinner the clubhouse situated across a court yard was good

Room Tip: We had three different rooms all were excellent

Spent a short Golf break at this fine hotel/cottages in the spring. The woodman style self catering cottage could have come out of Hans Christian Anderson stories, so peaceful. The 18 hole manicured Golf course is not difficult but challenging in places. Plenty of trees and water.
Certainly planning to return in 2015 for a longer break.

We spent one night in this domaine and were overwhelmed. The hotel is situated in the side buildings of the ancient castle. Very comfortable with all possible services, including and noteworthy two pools, one indoor and one outdoor. Two restaurants of which a Michelin Gourmet one. The hotel belongs to "Relais & Châteaux" which is always a good sign because that chain is very serious.

The chateau is stunning as are the grounds. Very peaceful and relaxing place to stay and service is excellent. Pool is fabulous and during our stay weather was good so used it daily. Dogs and children are welcome. Clubhouse serves delicious food and atmosphere and service is charming. We stayed in a cottage in the grounds and although comfortable and well appointed the decor is outdated and in need of refurbishment. Bretesche is a very smart place to stay so the cottage wasn't really in keeping. We've stayed here before in both the hotel and cottage and will return again.

We visited twice last year and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Benjamin in reception very helpful when we were booking. Loved room on first floor as they overlook the courtyard. Beautiful setting.
Golf course well kept. Good driving range as well. 20euros for 13 x 25 balls. Staff eager to please and remember little likes and dislikes. Food in restaurant great -expensive but lovingly prepared. We have found that just having 2 courses is sufficient as little appetisers are given pre dinner which is like having mini entrees. Menu could be a bit limiting if u don't like fish and stay for longer than 3-4days - not sure how often menu is changed. Most staff speak good English. No complaints so far. Have not used the spa so cannot comment. Had facials and massages - again, a bit pricey at 158euros for a facial and foot reflexology combined but they were good. We will be back again I am sure.

very quiet, I think there were just four other guests, so it felt like we had an entire mansion to ourselves. The hotel rooms occupy the former outbuildings of the Chateau de la Bretesche which stands along a pond across from the hotel. You can take a nice walk around the lake and view the Chateau (which has tours in the summer).

The rooms had nice old world furnishing with a comfortable bed and a nice big bathroom. We had a room that faced the adorable interior courtyard and it was very quiet. There is a fun bar in the former stables right off the lobby, great for a drink or a coffee. The two restaurants within the hotel were both very good. The Club restaurant was a little less formal and had a nice bar and great fireplace. The Montiagu is Michelin starred and the food and wine pairings were excellent.

The best part of the hotel was the staff. They were extremely helpful before we arrived making sure we had dinner reservations. On arrival they couldn't have been nicer, so welcoming. The restaurant staff was also amazing, gave great information about the food and wine during our meals. The only disappointment was the breakfast - we ate there the first morning but the cost, I believe over 15 euros each, was a little steep. But I have found this to be true for most buffet breakfast anywhere you go.

I would love to come back again in the spring or summer to enjoy the beautiful pool and see the hotels gardens in bloom. If you are a golfer they had an extensive course.

We were touring around southern Brittany and found this to be a good base. The hotel is easily accessible to the highway and the town of Missillac itself is quiet close. Though we didn't venture down, it looked to have a few restaurants and shops.

We had a villa closed to the golf and near to the La Bretesche Chateau which is stunningly beautiful. The service in this hotel is excellent and the villa was comfortable and quiet. we had two floors, one for the living/kitchen/bar and one for the two bed rooms that we were using. Two bath rooms and one rest room at the sleeping level and one at the living level. Superb.
Prices are very correct for what you get and we will certainly go back to this place and spend more time. enjoying the countryside and the restaurants.

Room Tip: The hotel or the villa are superb. If you are only two, choose the hotel rooms.
