David and Jenny's B&B was a relaxing end to our stay in the Maltese Islands. The room was comfortably cool even with 40C temperatures outside, and the bathroom is clean and newly renovated. Breakfast is served on a terrace overlooking the island and sea in the distance. Dave and Jenny were helpful with planning our short stay. Dave transported us to and from the ferry and even treated us to a glass of wine when we ran into him in the village square.

The nearest beach is a 20-minute walk, and the boat trip to the Blue Lagoon from here is much better than the main ferry from the main island.

This was our second visit to Dave and Jennys B&B, after a wonderful 10day stay in 2011. We really liked the quaint friendly gozitan village of Qala, the beautiful scenery of Gozo, and the personal, yet professional service offered by Dave and Jenny.
As before booking was easy and straight forward, and when we arrived Dave picked us up from the ferry port. This time we stayed in the tastefully decorated spacious bedroom with 2 large double beds.

The B+B is tastefully decorated, with beautiful antiques, ornaments and wonderful pieces of art by local artists (we actually purchased some art ceramics we loved it so much). Reading a comment by the only reviewer that has given a 1 star rating, describing it as ‘cheap décor, and poor taste’ has really upset us – if you want to stay in a monochrome heartless hotel then this is definitely not for you.

The room has plenty of storage space; a wardrobe, drawers, dressers, coat stand, wall hooks, so even the largest of suitcases can be unpacked! The bathroom is brand new with a beautiful shower space and is kept immaculately clean every day.
Both bedrooms are on the ground floor, have a ceiling fan and a stand up fan, and the windows have insect nets, shutters and curtains, which allows for a cooling breeze to flow through at all times, with no need for air-con.

One of the highlights of this B&B is the breakfast service. Having stayed in a 5 star hotel in Valletta on the first few nights of our holiday, we can confidently say that this breakfast is comparable, and in many aspects better – the pancakes are freshly made and the fruit salads are made with the ripest, sweetest fruits, most are sourced locally as the fruits that are in season! Dave whips up a personalised cooked breakfast, ham/bacon/sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms, offering eggs in a variety of styles – poached, omelette, fried, eggy bread! Fresh local bread with mouth-watering jams – all produced by Dave (we were lucky to try strawberry, fig, orange, plum jams!) To top it off, a selection of teas, coffee, orange juice, yoghurts.

The B+B offers many complimentary bonuses – endless supply of fresh bottled water, tea, coffee, snacks. For beach-goers there are parasols and foldable chairs, snorkel sets.

As mentioned in previous posts – Dave and Jenny are the perfect hosts, always full of helpful suggestions and hints, arranging days out/restaurants, offering lifts to the beach… the list goes on.. They really do go the extra way to make your stay enjoyable, and they did it once again for us this year!

Staying and David and Jenny's is like going to spend a holiday at your favorite aunt and uncle's, minus the stress of family drama and responsibilities - so in a word, brilliant!

David and Jenny were a priceless asset to our vacation, and my boyfriend and I know that it would not have been half as good without them. Jenny was there to help every step of the way with the planning, organizing taxis and time schedules. We didn't rent a car for Gozo (which we recommend for future travelers), and used the bus system, but David was wonderful in giving us a lift to somewhere if we asked.

The rooms were gorgeous and separate from their house. Whoever said the decor was cheap and felt like they were intruding should put a sock in it! Obviously a comfortable B&B is not going to be heartless and standoffish like a hotel. We felt immediately at home as soon as we walked in the door, if the warm greeting from the two at the ferry didn't do it enough already. The rooms were spotless, as well as the bathroom, with regular changing of the sheets and towels. There were tons of fans in the rooms so air conditioning isn't needed (and that's coming from an American).

The breakfasts every morning were definitely a favorite part! David has his menu that he goes through full of different things each morning, including a yummy, varied fruit salad. You enjoy it on their lovely balcony with a great view of the area and it's just so nice!

David and Jenny were indispensable. Their valuable insights of where to go and what to do were always spot on and worth it. After eating all over Gozo and Malta, my boyfriend and I concluded that the restaurants they recommended had been the best (aside from David's breakfasts of course!).

We couldn't recommend them enough, especially to couples who need a friendly, super relaxing getaway. David and Jenny's B&B was fantastic from the moment we arrived to the moment we left, and after we left we felt like we had been thoroughly spoiled and had to "rough it" in the next place we stayed. Thanks you two!!

Our 'David & Jenny Experience' started the moment we stepped off the ferry on Gozo. David was there to meet us and, with a cheerful smile, grabbed our heavy bags and loaded them into the back of his jeep. Not only did he give us a lift to the B&B, he also took us on a quick tour of the village pointing out the nicest pubs and restaurants and showing us the way to the beach. My mum and I were only staying for two days so it saved us a lot of time. We arrived at David & Jenny’s in sweltering 40 degrees heat and went straight for a siesta. Our room was clean and beautifully decorated in sunny colours, the two double beds were super comfy and our bathroom was shining and spotless. There’s no air con in the room but two fans were sufficient – the house feels quite cool anyway. There’s limitless tea, coffee and biscuits, all free of charge, and you can borrow books, beach towels (all freshly laundered) and Crocs (even those are sterilised) for the beach. Breakfast on the balcony is a relaxed, chatty affair and the food is delicious. Kicking off with a large bowl of fruit salad – your 5-a-day is right there – and followed by a scrummy omelette and toast lovingly prepared by David in his apron. I didn’t try the pancakes but apparently they’re legendry! The B&B is in a great location within stumbling distance of the quaint pubs and restaurants and about a 30 minute stroll downhill to the beach. When it gets really hot David will come and pick you up to save you collapsing from heat exhaustion on the climb home. I can’t recommend this B&B enough – it’s great value for money, it’s homely and stylish and David and Jenny are just lovely people who extend the warmest of welcomes. The only thing missing was a swimming pool. Nevertheless, I will definitely go back again.

We are on an extended european holiday and have stayed in 7 hotels so far. All have lived up to their tripadvisor/other reviews, but not this one. The place smells musty, the decore is cheap, and in poor taste ($2 shop feel), outside of your room are owner's personal family photos (made us feel like we were intruding on someone's personal space), the corridor is a junk pile of clutter, so is the area upstairs/kitchen. The website photos are misleading. No wi-fi or tv in room. The location was poor; no views, no attractions within walking distance (summertime 35 Celsius). Owners allude to it being located in 'Quiant Gozitan village of Qala'; be informed the 'village' consists of a small church about 3 restaurants, a British ex-pat bar, and a local bus stop running hourly, surrounded by houses. Ie. a normal quiet Maltese neighborhood. Booking was easy, and owner offers a pick up from the ferry, that's the only positives. We would not stay in this place again, and would not recommend it to anyone.
In spite of our accomodation, we had a great time visiting Gozo and it's people. We would recommend staying in one of the pretty bays for relaxing (eg. Xlendi Bay), or Victoria which has shops, markets, plenty of restaurants, accomodation, and the main bus station if you'd like to make a quick morning start to explore the island's numerous spots.

I am disappointed to read your very unfavourable review and I would like to answer some of your criticisms. Our website photographs show the rooms accurately and the description accompanying them indicates the facilities offered. I can only suggest you read the website carefully when booking and make sure it fulfills your expectations. There is no WIFI or TV available but there is complimentary tea, coffee, biscuits and drinking water as well as beach towels, an assortment of beach equipment, maps and guide books free of charge. Perhaps this is the "junk pile" you refer to. There is no view from the rooms as they are ground floor - see the website - but there is a splendid view from the breakfast terrace - website photo. I am sorry you did not like the decor - most people enjoy our mixture of antiques and interesting collectables but I appreciate it is not everyone's taste. The family photos in the hall are mean't to make you feel at home but seem to have failed this time. "Musty smell" the rooms are cleaned and aired every day but if the guest chooses not to open the window that is beyond our control.
Qala has a central village square with a large church,a smaller, older church a short distance away and a chapel overlooking the Gozo Channel plus 3 bars and 3 good restaurants all in the square and a reliable bus service to the capital, Victoria, once an hour. The village square is 2 minutes walk from the house.
The website is truthful regarding facilities offered and as can be seen from all our other reviews most of our guests have a positive and happy stay with us - in fact "racheal m" whose review is 4 away from yours stayed with us at the same time and as can be seen had a completely different experience.
