We have just returned from our 2nd visit to the Bear Inn and I have to say it was better than the 1st time. The Bar area has had a complete refurb and is very nice, the menu has also changed and is still good value for money. The food is well presented and very nice.
The staff are very friendly and very helpfull.

Staff at hotel were very helpful & breakfast was excellent & freshly cooked & with a varied choice. It did however differ on the 2 occasions we ate which may have been due to different chefs as one morning there were 2 sausages & 2 hash browns & another just one of each!! I do assume though that if we wanted any more the waitress would have got it for us. One small thing though is make sure that cutlery is better washed & maybe put a couple of sweetener sachets on selection. As for room 17 we could not have pre-requested a better location due to trip adviser reviews - the room size was excellent, very quiet with little road noise seeing as it was on the main road through the town. The only down point for us was that the housekeeping which needs to be taken up a notch as there were a lot of dust & hairs- ugh!! all around the edge of the bathroom - also no shaver point & maybe a bit more attention to hoovering - apart from that we really did enjoy our stay but did not say anything to management as we were there to celebrate a birthday which was more important to us.

Room Tip: If available ask for room 17 as at the end of row of cottages & away from main building & ha...

Me and my sister stayed here for two nights, the room was nice and beds were reasonably comfy pillows a bit hard and there was only one, but otherwise good. The room was clean had coffee and tea facilities a hair dryer and television. The only real bad point- it's a little noisy at night and in the morning the breakfast area is very untidy all tables dirty with crockery and food not cleared when people leave, also no glasses or bowls for drinks and cereal. Think they need more staff members as one lady was trying to do it all by herself. The B and B is just across the road from Clarks shopping village and there were some nice shops there and near to Wookey and cheddar a real nice part of the country. I would stay here again as it's not bad overall for the money I just think breakfast could be a bit more organised.

Photos on the website aren't particularly true to life in our experience... our room was clean with a good shower and comfy bed but did not appear 4 star standard at all, more like 2/3. Staff were friendly and food at the Inn, and breakfast were of a decent standard. A nice place to stay if you're not looking for anything glamourous.

We went with our sons and were put in a large spacy room. The bathroom was large and pleasant. The staff are very friendly. The only inconvenience would be that we only one set of room keys and had to use another door to get into the building. We had to coordinate each time to open the main entrance. They have a nice kitchen with good ales on tap. The staff are friendly and helpful. They can improve the mattresses on the beds (both standard and fold out). We had a great stay!

The Bear is one of the Marston's Inns group and I have always found the accommodation at such places to be comfortable and clean. The advantage of the bear was that the room that I had was sitauted in a row of cottages about 100 yards from the pub irself. That means that you do not have the disturbance of late night leavers or the drone of extractor fans from the kitchen when the chef cranks up breakfast at 5 a/m No; I had a pleasant little maisonette with a seperate bedroom and loungeand there was plenty of parking outside of the cottage in the private car park.

Breakfast was pretty standard fare but well cooked an dpleasantly served. I stayed on a Sunday night so got very good value at £49.50 through Booking.com but you can sometimes find it for even less on the Marston's website. We worth it as a venue for a stay over or a weekend away in the lovely Somerset hills and levels.

A sound B&B that is in keeping with the cost of a room. Our room was a little dark and worn in places but clean and quiet. We stayed in the cottages down the road which were pleasant. Breakfast was buffet style cooked breakfast, simple and filling. Good location. Don't set you hopes too high and you won't be disappointed.
