We spent another two weeks at this hotel and had an excellent time. Our room overlooked the main pool and further onto Sotavento beach which is a magnificent beach. The staff are always very friendly and helpful, the gardens are well tended and provide a variety of areas for sunbathing in, ranging from full sun to dappled shade. There are always spare sun beds even around the main pool. The food is good and there are always plenty of options although the fresh cooked counters can be busy, the bread is baked daily on site and there are always fresh salad counters. We spent an hour each day walking along the fabulous beach, taking a dip in the clear blue sea when it was very hot walking. Then returned for a coffee and a brandy before chilling out on a sunbed.
The local bus trip to Jandia is good value although some drivers are ex F1 test drivers!! The evening shows in the Funpub are generally good and the cocktail lounge relaxed and friendly.
There are no loudspeakers blasting out pop music anywhere around the main pool and the bar is usually fairly easy to get drinks from.

PLEASE NOTE
It is always breezy but can be very windy hence the name of the island, the hotel is remote so no there are no local shops or bars, the main beach is a lagoon at times depending on the tides.

We love the hotel and the island having been 5 times and will book again because it provides great value for money and has a lovely relaxed atmosphere.

Room Tip: Go for a sea view along the main beach choose one on 7 or 8 the view is wonderful!

We have just returned from another trip to Fuerteventura. Stayed in Melia for a week. Level, halfboard, room 967.

What can I say? It was wonderful for us. I even can not remember everything, we have done in this week. For us was this stay excellent and when we have next year the possibility, we will return. We are more travelers then hotel stayers, so we were almost all the days out of the facility. Level room is big and OK, our room was the last on the costa calma side, so we were very near the AC system, so it was a little bit loud during the day. The night was OK. The mosquitoes were everywhere, we used a bio repellent and was functioning. The room was cleaned each day and was very good. The meals were a good standard, we as vegetarians had problems with some meals like lasagna (one day lasagna Bolognese, another lasagna spinachi). Sometimes we had not to take a meal because of no description. The breakfast and the snacks during the day were very good, but Level is not made for vegetarians and for vegans no way.

We were in Melia due to the beach and surroundings. This was absolutely great. 4 km beach used partly for skites but after maybe 1 km walk you can swim in absolutely clean sea with density 1 person per km. For us fabulous. FABULOUS. The locality I could not imagine before. And the fun in high tide, low tide times, incredible. So much fun for us. But next year we need a waterproof camera :) . Lots of wind, really a lot. Quite cold temperatures. you get used to. We also took a walk to the other side of the island. Also wonderful.

So what to say at the end? You have to decide, what you want to do during your stay. Food and services - there are better hotels (I compare with RIU Palace tres islas - better food and services at all). If you want to enjoy the miracles of nature with little people around - this is your thing (it is hard then to go back into the city). We will return if we can.

Recommendation for the hotel: think about splitting the dinner into two rounds. Would be better for staff and for the people (not that hectic surroundings, people can find place and have not to wait and not that many queues by living cooking). Better description of the meals. Maybe better information about the services - we received snacks in the room by cleaning for the first 3 days, after this period not. Why?

P.S.: Thank you Jacqueline (sorry when I spell not right) for your care about us.

Room Tip: LEVEL!!! Maybe better the rooms heading south, not our wing of 960 - 967 - right above the restauran...

Beautiful view from our room 737 which overlooked the pool and beach. This is the first time we have booked an all inclusive hotel but we decided to go for the Melia Gorrionnes due to it's location. We just wanted somewhere nice in the Canaries to spend my partners 40th Birthday. On a budget we loooked at Feurteventura. We love Lanzarote but felt we'd been there too many times. We had got the ferry to Corralejo from Playa Blanco once and found it a bit Brits Abroad and so decided on Jandia (mostly German). Costa Calma hotels kept popping up on our internet searches but the good deals were on self catering. On investigation there are very few restaurants in Costa Calma and not much night life so self catering wouldn't work. We decided to pay a little extra and go all inclusive. We were not dissapointed. We had a hire car so basically got up for breakfast - loads of fresh fruit, cereals, fruit juices, meats, eggs etc or the chef would fry eggs, do an omlette etc. We drove to Risco Del Paso each day and sun bathed in the sand dunes. We missed lunch and returned to the hotel each day around 7pm. We had dinner on the terrace, each night something different. The buffet comprised of the standard salad selection, pizza, pasta, paella to nightly variances of veal, sirloin steak, grilled veal, chicken, salmon, lamb chops all cooked to order. There was even a mexical corner with tortillas, chilli etc. One night we had smoked salmon and sushi. The house wine was great and the hotel entertainment was entertaining! A nice crowd of trendy Germans, Kite Surfers, families....
Our Room was great. We booked a double, sea view and I can honestly say the best view from a hotel room ever! Our time spent on the balcony of an evening sipping wine and looking out to sea will never be forgotton.
The staff were brilliant, so friendly and helpful! My partner had a bottle of Sparkling wine and a few sweets/cakes placed in our room on his birthday!!!
There are two Bars, one Adult only which is a roof top bar and a 'Fun Bar' where the entertainment happens... Entertainment varies from Il Divo tributes, Elvis impersonators to magic / jugling shows...
All in all one of the best holidays we have ever had. Amazing service, lovely views from our hotel and the first time ever we have decided to return again to the same hotel, perhaps not next year but one time in the future on a special occasion....

We had high hopes for this hotel based upon previous reviews, but it just didn't quite live up to it's rating.
Rated as a 4 star, but personally and to the experience of the rest of our family we would beg to differ. The hotel itself looks pretty slick in the main foyer, but when you get behind the scenes, it's clearly in need of a huge makeover.
We booked 2 rooms in the Level (which are supposed to be the best rooms in the hotel) i'd say they were more like Standard rooms compared to places we've previously stayed at. Positives were the amazing beach view we had and sun loungers on the balcony were a nice touch. However, fittings and fixtures in the rooms were rusty, broken marble around sink, patchy tiling, lots of things broken and poorly repaired. That aside, the cleanliness of the room was great - very clean and the bed quality, and comfort was good.

Upon arrival late evening, we asked the lovely ladies at reception if we could get a bite to eat. We were told to head to the restaurant on level 2 where there was a cold buffet for late arrivals. The room was in darkness when we arrived and no one there to welcome us or even get us a drink! The buffet was a very sorry state of affairs, a few soggy salads past their best, some very stale bread and some cold meat and sweaty cheese that didn't look fit to feed an animal with.

Breakfast served in the level restaurant was just OK, nothing spectacular, average quality food.
Lunch / Dinner was again just OK, no great selections for vegetarians, (I lived on pasta, chips, cheese and bread, as most nights even the vegetables had meat in them!) but the meat eaters did alright, although there were constant issues with food being undercooked or being completely dried out and tough. (especially chicken, pork and fish) my 7 year old daughter had raw pork when she cut into her meat! My parents also had issues with under-cooked chicken and fish - Not only a disgusting thing but also very dangerous.
I was also shocked to see out of date yoghurts in the cabinet at dinner (1 particular yoghurt I tasted was rancid and when I checked the date it was 2 weeks after it's use by date!), also moulding fruit as a centre piece to the desert counter! It seems like there is a whole lot of food recycling going on and using of ingredients that are way past their best!

On to the pool area...the main pool area looks beautiful from the balcony, and there are plenty of loungers and pools to choose from. Although up close the main pool surrounding area itself is in a bad state of disrepair, rough broken concrete which my daughter cut herself on twice during the holiday and also gashed her leg getting out of the main pool as the side of the pool is made from a very rough finish concrete. The pools themselves are very clean though.
The kids pool was good, water-slides and a fountain which was fun for my daughter.
The level area with hot tubs and loungers was very nice and the complimentary fruit and drinks table was a nice touch.
I was slightly annoyed that a 20 euro deposit was required for lounger towels, and then a 1 euro charge per day to launder the towels. After the amount we spent for 5 of us to stay for a week, the towels should be free!

Kids club was NEVER open, this was particularly annoying as we had specifically chosen a hotel that had a good kids club to give ourselves and our daughter some down time. We were told at reception that if you went along each day at 10am and booked in (if there were enough kids they would open!) That's not good enough, if you advertise a kids club, then get staff in and open it - this will then attract the kids in to take part in activities)

Wi-Fi was not working anywhere in the hotel with the exception of the main lobby, and the connection was intermittent. Again not good enough for a 4 star hotel.

The entertainment was good, quite family orientated and I don't usually go for in house entertainers, but they were actually very talented; The flamenco was great (a modern twist on traditional style), also a few tribute type bands that were great singers and performers! But sadly the entertainment was only on for about 45 mins from 9.30 until 10.15pm. It would have been nice for this to carry on a little longer.
The adult only bar was also nice, great drink selection, but again closed far too early!

To sum up, the staff at the hotel are lovely, courteous and friendly... the experience is let down by the quality and surroundings of a hotel that was probably once very nice but has slipped into a state of disrepair over the years. It needs a massive refit and some good maintenance, they need to improve the quality and output in the restaurant and it may then become a nice place to stay.

I wouldn't return and sadly wouldn't recommend this hotel. It's just not good value for money. We spent a lot of money, and had high expectations based on this, but it fell short by a long shot!

Room Tip: If you do stay here, go for the Level (9th floor) with a beach view.

Bit isolated, but very relaxing. Beach has a pattern with tide water coming in close to hotel some days. This is great for children but is not constant. Nice pools. Nice facilities for children. Hotel a bit worn, but still nice. Food was good, the selections where huge. Nice holiday. Perfect for water sports.

This is the 2nd time we have visited this hotel and I will agree we had a few issues with the first room we were in on November but once we brought this to the attention of the hotel staff they could not have been any quicker in changing our rooms and also upgrading us .. this time when we went and we are just back on 25th May re previous review we certainly were not confined to our room the weather was fantastic ..And yet again the staff excelled i myself needed medical treatment when I was there and the help and care that they showed was totally outstanding and the reassurance that they gave me certainly helped me through a quite stressful situation.. I will be going back again next year I have been to all the other islands and by far this one is the best especially the staff .. I would recommend though it is not the place to be taking kids as there is not a lot for them to do it is more for water sports and couples just looking to enjoy each others company and relax...

If you are looking for a hotel where the nearest town is about 4 miles away and you are surrounded by miles of sand this is the place for you.The walks along this beautiful beach are a must and if you are energetic enough you can always have a go at Kite surfing.
Firstly we would like to thank all reception staff who were always helpful and friendly, in particular a big thank you to Ivan for looking after us on arrival at just after midnight,.Even though his shift had just finished he helped us with our luggage and settled us into our room at Casas del Mars (a separate block away from the main hotel). Whilst there was nothing wrong with our room we decided to upgrade the following day and Tracey went our of her way showing us what other rooms were available and we took an excellent room with fantastic sea views over the Sotavento beach, thank you Tracey for being helpful throughout our stay. Also thanks to Jose who managed to get our Ipad working after a lot of tweaking. (We could not pick up the internet in our room but had no trouble in the reception area).
The rooms were large and spotlessly clean, toiletries being replaced daily. Plenty of wardrobe space and drawers.
We were all inclusive and the food was of a very good standard with plenty of choice. At lunch and dinner the staff were very quick to take orders for drinks, and did so with a smile.
There was always plenty of sunbeds available and we enjoyed using the huge salt water pool.
The adult entertainment started at 9:30pm daily and lasted just over an hour. We found the shows to be very good as was the music played in the adults only bar.
A totally relaxing holiday,we will definately be returning
