“Just what we wanted”
Reviewed 14 August 2014

We booked this hotel, because of its position on the beach and the large pool area. Probably what we enjoyed the most were the restaurants. The choice of food was amazing, and we enjoyed having a choice of two locations for breakfast. Only criticism was that there was not much to do in the evenings.

We stayed for a week last month and had a great time. It was an extended family holiday so when booking in the UK, we asked for the rooms to be near each other. Although it was made clear that this couldn't be guaranteed, when we checked in, they all were which was great!

The food was excellent throughout the week with great choice. I was particularly impressed with the choice of gluten free food at breakfast - it was better than some restaurants in the UK.

The staff were all polite and the service was good. Not sure why some people have complained about not getting drinks as we had no problems at all.

Whilst we were out there, it was the World Cup final and as there were lots of Germans staying the hotel, it was a big thing. The atmosphere was great as the hotel made a real effort around it. Again, not sure why some people have complained about the German guests, we had no trouble and found them to be very polite and engaging.

The only thing I would warn people about is the beach next to the hotel. It isn't owned by the hotel so you do have to pay for the sun loungers (2 euros). It wasn't a problem as the beach was lovely but I think the rep should've told us about that in the welcome meeting.

Watch out for the nudist pool area - this is right next to the gym so you could get an unexpected view whilst on the treadmill!

If we were to go back to Fuerteventura, I'd have no hesitate in booking at this hotel again.

The hotel was kept very clean, staff were, for the most part, friendly and welcoming. Very little I could fault there if I tried! During the week the hotel put on a series of activities that you can choose to participate in if you wish. From rifle/pistol shooting, to archery, to water-polo and beach volleyball.
The team member who ran them, Danny, was excellent. He was able to converse with visitors in English, French, German, Spanish and some Italian, very impressive. He was always positive, in a great mood, helped with all the activities and was fun to be around. Even more importantly, if you said you didn't want to participate and wanted to lounge around, he was happy to leave you be! High praise for excellent customer service!

When we arrived we found we were in the "Platinum" section, which allows us access to a designated extra restaurant/buffet and a heated swimming pool. The heated pool was a god-send. The other pools we found were a little cold, but this was perfect, we may have been concerned for a week in the cold pools.

The one gripe I would bring up, due to our 6pm departure from the hotel on check-out day there were no facilities or rooms available for us to shower and get ready for the journey home after a day in the sun. These are USUALLY provided but the hotel was full to the brim.
Although the hotel was packed full, it didnt feel overly busy. The space and facilities were plentiful for the population at peak time.

The beach front is very pretty, golden sands, warm sea water (in summer). Plenty of space also. Fore-warning, the German contingent at the resort were not scared to get their kit off, but there is a specific nudist area in the resort which was secluded so the kids and adults who wished not to see didnt have to. Good idea there.

The food and drink sometimes left a little to be desired, although not by much. Food in the main restaurant was a little mass produced but the fruit and veg were always very fresh and there was lots of variety. (this is where the platinum area was great, the restaurant was smaller and therefore food was of a better quality!)
The drinks were plentiful, with all inclusive you get a selection of 3 cocktails (local spirits) and a cocktail-of-the-day. However, the bar staff have a tendency to pour a SIGNIFICANT amount of spirit into the cocktails. Pina coladas became more rum than pineapple! Difficult to complain about though!

Overall, this was a fantastic week. Staff were great, grounds immaculate, rooms comfortable. The price was probably a little more than I would say it was worth, however as it was August this was to be expected. Out of peak time, though, you're on a winner here for a relaxing week!

N.B.
There are two towns close by, Morro Jable being by far the superior. Lovely beach front and fishing village with some nice restaurants. Cheap too. We ate at the Waikiki restaurant and it was fabulous!

Room Tip: Go "Platinum", trust me. Better pool area (including the only heated pool), better food, a...

We arrived late on first day to efficient check in with cases taken to our accommodation which was good. We were directed to the restaurant on first floor where there was food and drink as we were passed usual eating time. Rooms are clean and basic cleaned whey day with fresh towels if you wish and bedding every few days. Air conditioning is efficient but maids will turn it off if you leave it on which is understandable. Pools were busy and you do have to put towels down if you want a set of sunbeds for family. Pools did have some missing tiles and some tiles around Pools were broken but staff were replacing them where needed. The grounds were meticulously cleaned and plants watered and looked lovely. Pools bar staff were pleasant mostly and quick to serve drinks. Food on the whole was very good with plenty of choice for both adults and kids and when stuff ran out it was promptly replaced with more. Staff service at evening meal time was very friendly and efficient. Entertainment was mimed to music (lion king , les mis etc and but there was a good Beatles tribute on once a week..the only issue was some of the English music used unedited versions and this meant several swear words including f##k were clearly audible. Sometimes the music was far too loud and that was when we sat at the back. We only Jandia nipping round the shops and having lunch after hiring a car in the hotel. Jandia is about 10 Min car journey away (€7 in taxi) Overall very good ...some info re charges safety deposit box €25 for a fortnight €45 for late check out at 2pm (usually at 11am) The hotel is predominantly used by Germans with a mix of Britain & Spanish making up most of the rest. Great mix to practice me German and learn some more Spanish .. I would take the family again....

Food is good, staff great, hotel is an hour and a half from the airport, and if you don't mind naked Germans on the beach, the hotel pools are great, only gripe is the pool bar every time we visited it was a different member of staff that did not know their way round the bar.

Room Tip: All rooms are fine

We booked the hotel at the last minute and then read some reviews which left me somewhat concerned but most of the quibbles were not justified. We went for the all inclusive option and although there were some silly anomalies in terms of what is included we found it good value. We did not have problems ordering drinks in the evening and were served at the table by very friendly staff who soon got to know our regular order! We were not particularly bothered as some by the split arrangements for Platinum guests (isn't it a Thomson Platinum Hotel??) but it would be better if this was clear or offered as an option from the UK. Generally a good hotel, food was fine for a buffet style arrangement and the rooms were clean and well maintained. We arrived late at 10pm but were offered a meal when we arrived and upon leaving we checked out of the room by 12 but were offered a free courtesy room to shower and change in the afternoon. The reception staff were always helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: Request a room on the top floor if possible

The first time on Fuerteventura, struck it lucky with this hotel and resort. Staff were very efficient, helpful and friendly, the twin bedrooms were kept to a very good 4 star rating level of cleanliness, layout and decor. There was no issue wth getting the sunbed of choice either poolside or in the shade. There was plenty of choice with regards to food at meal times, where the tables were managed quickly by all staff, and kept clean with fresh table cloths for every sitting. A good access to the beach, which in itself is one of the best beaches I have been on in all the times I have been away on holiday, it almost looked like it had been photoshopped.
I would have no issues in recommending this hotel and resort to any of my friends.
Quiet, relaxing, commercial free, what more do you want. No dodgey Ray Berry sun glasses sold on the beach here.
