We booked in advance for a two day break during summer and received a good rate; if we overheard the rates being quoted to walk-ins correctly, it's worth reserving. The place is friendly, clean and well placed with pleasant gardens in front. We understood that it had been recently reopened under new family management. Rooms are well appointed but might benefit from a fridge if you want to keep picnic items cool for hiking etc.; good bathroom and shower. The wifi didn't seem to work and, as helpful as the receptionist was, she had no success either. Breakfast, which was included, was a positive surprise: fruits, cold cuts, cheeses, pastries, breads and jams, bacon and eggs, juice, teas and coffee. The other restaurant which opens onto the street too, offered a very reasonable set menu, but service and presentation was a bit lackluster if you're being picky. It seems an ironic truism that despite rampant unemployment there is near universal chronic staff shortages in the service industries of Europe.
A strange quirk of Espot is that as a tourism hot-spot, cards and souvenirs everywhere, a post box in evidence, all shops, hotels, Tabacs were adamant that there were no postage stamps for sale in town or indeed for about a 40 km radius.
