“Wake up to peacocks!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 February 2014

Not as romantic as one might suppose....peacocks have a raucous call and very early!!!!
Lovely garden, tea on the lawn....super fun rooms but only the bedroom has air conditioning. going to the bathroom made it a sauna! We had the owner´s uncle´s room which was sweet. The owner was charming and had a drink with us before dinner. We loved it!

Room Tip: there are rooms at ground floor level if you are physically challenged.

Just off the highway between Udaipur and Jodhpur - Rohet Garh offers a peaceful retreat and a chance to catch your breath. Once inside the gates of this ancestral fort you are enveloped by the sense of quiet and serenity. The hotel surrounding a landscaped garden with wandering peacocks where you can sit and unwind away from the rest of the world. The generous hosts and obliging staff attending to your every need. A terrace restaurant a new addition overlooking the lake and another roof top dining room overlooking the pool - the food and service excellent.
Take a ride on the famous Mawari horses out to the desert camp or just relax and read - this is a must do if travelling through Rajhastan!

Room Tip: All rooms are beautifully appointed !

We had a delightful 3 night stay at this beautiful ancestral home in Rohet Garth. The charming owners, Mr and Mrs Singh along with their competent and attentive managers Vimal and Preven made us feel very welcome and the level of service throughout the hotel was excellent. The gardens are an oasis of quietness and colour and one can enjoy a lake view whilst having a drink or snack on the roof terrace. The public areas are welcoming and colourful with beautiful old furniture and pictures and the setting of the main restaurant overlooking a courtyard and swimming pool is wonderful. The food was very good and tasty with a wide choice.
The only downside was the swimming pool which was unheated and needed a good dose of chlorine at the time we stayed. Whilst this is an hotel for relaxing they offer activities such as horse riding, visits to local villages, cycling and cooking classes at extra cost, but they are enjoyable and time flies by too quickly ! We were sad to leave !

People who don't want to stay in crowded metros can be a good choice to stay just forty km from Jodhpur on the way to Udaipur and Mount Abu. It is nice small town to see rural life and culture. Beautiful heritage hotel with very good service, good clean rooms, good food. They have beautiful pool and very good roof top restra.
I really like this place and want to stay some time in future.
Good Luck!!!

Rohet Garh is a slice of heaven

After spending several days in the busy cities, we spent two heavenly days at Rohet Garh. The staff were superb, the rooms were clean and decorated beautifully, the grounds were blissful and well maintained. Vimel, the manager, was everywhere at once tending to every possible guest need. Prabeen, the dining manager was a great host and again made sure we were cared for.

However, the crown jewel of RG are the owners Mr. Siddarth Singh and his lovely wife Mrs. Rashmi Singh. As descendants of the Singh-Rohet family who owned the property going back 14 generations and had ruled the Rohet area historically, they are the true embodiment of benevolent noble people. They care genuinely about the many locals whom they employ and of course, care greatly about their guests.

While staying with them, be sure to visit and dine at their internationally award winning luxury boutique hotel 20 minutes drive from RG. It is magnificent in every way.

We highly recommend Roget Garh!

Definitely a relative oasis in a desert location ... really fabulous, dignified and gracious family hosts. The rooms are decorated in a modest, traditional style but marble floors without rugs or slippers make 3am bathroom visits pretty uncomfortable - easily fixed though, if they'd like to. Showers are cold and unenthusiastic. Internet is only available in pubic areas - actually a bonus for us as our teenagers were forced out of their rooms and into the lovely garden to join us. The staff were absolutely charming ... all in all we felt that everyone was trying their best. There is a stable next attached to the property with the local Marwari horses. Please make sure that you're a very proficient rider to enjoy the rides. We really, really enjoyed a visit to a local Bishnoi village and a subsequent Opium Ceremony - yes, true, in another local village. Not sure that there's not an argument to stay in Jodphur itself and just travel to the village experiences.

With absolute certainty we can say that this was the best hotel during our 2-week holiday of Rajasthan, India. The hotel manager and his staff were delightful, helpful and very courteous. You felt right at home once you had checked-in.
The combination of local Indian and international design, style, materials used and details of the interior and exterior of the gardens, rooms, pool and restaurants were well chosen. During the delicious buffet dinner, the elegant wife of the owner of the hotel came by each table to introduce herself.

Room Tip: We stayed across from the swimming pool and because it was winter, no one was using the pool at this...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Rohet Garh is a classified Heritage Hotel. Since 1989 it has been nurtured and developed with great love and care by the family into one of the finest Heritage hotels in the country. No new building has been added in the renovation process, but rather, old edifices have been skillfully redesigned to create a heritage property that has few parallels. Situated on the banks of a lake and set in the midst of rural surroundings, it is a haven of peace and tranquility. Sprawling lawns and manicured gardens, which invite a multitude of birds and dancing peacocks, herald your entry into this oasis where the bird song is the only sound you will hear. A superb swimming pool with four charming pavilions entices you for a refreshing dip. Often dinner is served by the poolside as folk musicians enliven the evening atmosphere. An elegant, beautifully appointed lounge, serene verandahs, and terraces with breathtaking views, make perfect venues for relaxation. The thirty-four individually decorated rooms add a touch of class. Pioneers of activities such as ‘The Village Safari’, and offering an array of activities- from an extensive equestrian program to culinary workshops, Rohet Garh has set the highest standards in quality and efficiency, offering its guests an experience beyond compare. Rohet Garh proudly boasts of the finest kitchens in traditional cuisine. The chefs have been trained by the lady of the house, the late Thakurani Sahiba, who was the author of Cuisine of Rohet Garh and Quick and Easy Rajasthani Cuisine, the former published due to popular demand from our guests. Many have called their meal at Rohet Garh, their best in India. The peace and tranquility of the environs have drawn writers from around the world. Rohet Garh has had the honour of hosting some of the most respected names in the literary world.
